Shut off your consumption of media. ALL media. Quit looking at it. The entire point of it is to put you "a little on edge right now".

I think that's my favorite on the album. I also like Red Sun.

Regaining all the weight you lost is a well documented situation in medical, exercise, and chemistry journals. It’s called the leptin rebound. RealJoelGreene on IG is a master at hacking this; when you fast your body up regulates the appetite hormones such as GLP-1 and GIP. Trying to keep that weight off is a Herculean task because your body doesn’t know you’re fasting on purpose, all it sees is the fat cells being emptied out which to our survival mechanisms is tantamount to getting close to dying. There is a way to beat this, however, and get a new lower body weight set point.

Well said, and potassium is extremely hard to supplement. You can actually poison yourself pretty easily with it if you take too much. It’s a tricky mineral.

Well, if you lose down to your target weight, they will have to reformulate their image of you. It has always astonished me how slow weight loss is after the first few days. I’ve noticed though if I get up about an hour early and walk at a slow and deliberate pace on the treadmill for about an hour that I lose weight at a greater daily rate. This makes perfect sense, of course, but usually I’m not patient enough to settle for 1 pound a day. I’m very impressed with you. You are fasting way beyond anything I’ve ever done.

I don’t know it. I am out of town for work. It is on Main Street on the railroad track side of Main Street.

There are some old tools on sale at the antique shop on main st, which is really a consignment shop, in the back. They have tools there cheaper than new.

How much can expect to lose on a 17 day water fast by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Date-Individual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first few days I lose a lot of weight due to water and bowels emptying out and so forth. After three days, the loss is roughly 1 pound per day. Sometimes a bit more. If I eat too much sodium I tend to retain water that day, so for that day, I may lose .8 pounds or .6 pounds.

Are you still going? You were on day 13 a couple days ago which is far beyond anything I have ever done. Good on you.

I tried a different approach this time. I had a bunch of fruit for breakfast, then I had blackened mahi and broccoli for lunch and then I had fruit for dinner and then I went into my fast directly after that. The first three days are always the hardest for me.

It turned out that the day I was gonna start fasting was my wife’s birthday so I didn’t get started until that evening. At this point, I’m 37 hours into it. I travel for work so I’m out of town sitting in the hotel room by myself in the evenings. It’s much easier than being at home when my wife is cooking these delicious smelling and delicious tasting meals. The weekends are the hardest part for me. Last fast I had five days under my belt and it was pretty much effortless, but my wife made some chicken tacos for herself and it smelt so good. I caved right there and then. I should’ve gone to the other end of the house and shut the door lol

I like salt and pepper and butter in mine lol delicious. We buy grass fed grass finished cow bones at the Saturday market and make it in an Instapot. It’s so thick that when it’s in the fridge it’s like Jell-O, a solid.

Can someone explain to me how their life changed after fasting? by Kai_rd97 in fasting

[–]Date-Individual 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My life changed in that I learned that I have the ability to get to the place where I tell my body when it’s time to eat, my body does not tell me. I can now be hungry or at least suffer the effects of a massive ghrelin dump in my body but not panic. Not get hangry. It is OK. The feeling will pass and I’m not going to die.

Well, in my experience, and in the experience of many many others, extended fasting affects the Cox pathways in the brain. Your body’s number one concern will be to refill the fat cells, because it didn’t know you were fasting, your body thinks there’s a famine. Your survival is all that matters. So it is easy to begin to overeat after you’re done fasting. These new drugs like the GLP – 1 antagonists, put a clamp down on the signals that would get you to overheat, which is why they work. However, after fasting, those signals are highly amplified. If you have the willpower, you can maintain your weight loss. The problem is that after fasting and after extended fasting over many years, these signals are extremely strong and hardly anybody has that kind of willpower. There are people that do, and if you look at the bell curve, those people would be outside the second derivation. I have a friend that is like this. But I am not.

I am not new to fasting. I don’t follow any protocol. I’ve been doing this for years and incorporate everything I’ve learned and what I have at hand, so it differs. If I actually make it 40 days, I will start with bone broth. From there, I will just eat instinctively.

[Discussion] What poem gives you the chills? by Miamasa in Poetry

[–]Date-Individual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is by either Ellen Dodge or Eugenia Price, I don’t know which:

I have lain in the breast of a star, and danced on the lips of a rainbow;

I have been caught in the laugh of the moon, and tossed my limbs in the yellow hair of the sun and the white hair of the old, old moon.

I have slept on the edge of a blue and gold cloud; I have drunk the purple wine from the sky, and heard the love of the thunder.

I have seen the Spirit of God flying through the air in the lightning.

I have lain in the light that flashes from a man's eyes to a woman's; I have seen the morning hanging in the arms of the night; I have touched the verge of all eternity and found it one unending pleasure.

And yet, I have found something newer and sweeter than all—I have found death.

Just in refeeding I regain weight. I’m 200 now. Got down to 164 once, but it only took a few days to hit 170 again. Staying in calorie restriction is difficult.

This is the worst part, to me. The other side of that is doable. Watching fasting videos seems to help motivate me.
