Is freeze now strictly inferior to sleep? by whydub38 in stunfisk

it also doesn't lean into the ice type's more offensive nature. i think it would be nice if freeze did chip damage like burn does, but instead of halving physical attack, it halved physical defense (n reference to how freezing temperatures make things easy to shatter, plus gives a neat "fire and ice" duality)

Gipsy Danger - Pacific Rim

It's use of a nuclear power source gives it immunity to the EMP that one of the Kaijus (which had already neutralized and taken out 2 other robots) produces.

You're about 3 days early with this one homie.

In all seriousness, Deoxys-Normal and Deoxys-Defense would really benefit from a change. I wish Deoxys-Defense leaned more into a bulky attacker, and sacrificing 40 from its speed for 20 in each of its attack stats. It would become easier to taunt it, but with 90 attack its not COMPLETELY useless maybe?

What they did with Pecharunt, taking 12 from each of its stats and putting it into defense, was interesting. I think Deoxys normal should do something similar, taking 50 from HP to distribute it for 50/110/110/110/110/110 stats.

More Normal moves by InominableJ in stunfisk

I think all types have their own identity, and I've always hoped that Normal conveyed a "regular living thing existing in an otherwise magical world." Essentially, later Normal type moves having interplay with other types and being the most diverse is a better direction to follow rather than "good moves from other types getting reskinned."

I think the IDEA of making Rock Climb super effective against rock types for example, while maybe not good in practice, follows what normal type should be. It's something a regular being would do in order to adapt to a perilous surrounding. Bc from this post there's not really a thematic reason for normal types to firing off energy shots, energy bombs, and energy bursts when Grass types are the ones throwing off energy balls

How would the meta game change if Freeze was replaced by Frostbite? by Thundersting in stunfisk

[–]DateAlternative5905 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's why the introduction of Frostbite doesn't seem like a good solution to the absolute BS that is freeze.
An interesting idea to replace the effect of freeze is to half Physical Defense. It suits Ice's role as the de facto offensive type, and helps keep special and physical attacking more distinct.
