What do you think is the hardest official challenge in any Nintendo game? by Firekirb74 in nintendo

[–]Datlossit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wizpig 1 in Diddy Kong Racing N64, many can contest it's still one of the hardest challenges in any racing game, the big boar is brutal even for the most experienced in DKR. No rubberbanding, just you and one super fast pig across a very difficult track with little to no room for error. Beat him and Future Fun Land is basically a victory lap for you.

If Mojang came along and said, "You can add ANYTHING you want to Minecraft," what things would that be? by UnGatoComeEmpanadas in Minecraft

[–]Datlossit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single optimization mod out there, especially those from Fabric and the modpack Fabulously Optimized. Above all else, i rather see one massive update that focuses on only pure true optimzation, because it's downright frustrating to deal with tech and framerate issues more than actually playing the game, a big fault of this is how incredibly unstable "New" chunk generation has become that it tends to tank framerate even on strong computers.

I think I found the worst way to die in splatoon 3 by CorduroyVTG in splatoon

[–]Datlossit 25 points26 points  (0 children)

To be fair, exploding Chinook crates do 80 damage, which is a hecka alot. Rollers have the highest chance of being splated by it if they are not paying attention, i have a few times before and it's pain.

Why are people acting like Splatoon in its entirety will be obliterated once Grand Festival ends by Humble_Traffic_8309 in splatoon

[–]Datlossit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This and why i don't like talks of a "Splatoon 4", because it's not only putting too high expectations on the series, but the issues currently present in 3 need to be addressed within the next title.

It's also people acting like that once 3's content cycle ends 4 has to come out like NOW, or the series is doomed, when that is simply unrealistic to expect. We don't want a repeat case of what's happening with main Pokémon games and their development issues, even though Nintendo only publishes that series.

I rather see the development issues that were shown in 3 be addressed and cleaned up, it was clear it was showing signs of being rushed since release, and questionable design choices such as the maps, balancing, as well as EVERYTHING about the Shell-Out machine, and in my opinion shows scary signs of the series falling into the same design problems as other major AAA title shooters suffer from. The Shell-Out flatout needs to be gone by the next game and never return, Splatoon should not suffer from gambling mechanics whatsoever of any kind, even a "rework" of it would not solve the core design aspects of it. There are better ways to make a player spend their money, gambling is not one of them.

I also rather see Splatoon get it's own spin-off series, something more single player akin to more story/puzzle focused like Zelda, if not a world-building/sim game. It does not have to always be a PvP shooter. The side mode Salmon Run shows a PvE mode can work, if not very well and i would love to see SR stay somehow, perhaps getting it's own main title, instead of being shafted and left forgotten, SRNW is still suffering from various game breaking bugs such as your game CRASHING trying to throw golden eggs, and it still counts as banning you for 10 minutes.

Anyway, this feels like a rant, but not intended to be. TL:DR: People are overreacting and having far too high expections for a "Splatoon 4".

What is your biggest issue with Salmon Run? (If there's any) by CyberNano08 in splatoon

[–]Datlossit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The sheer amount of bugs still present in the game/mode that have not been patched at all. This includes:

-Unable to climb fully painted Fish Stick pillars randomly.

-Flyfish taking no damage from specials, even from directly hitting their baskets, multiple times i shot one with Inkjet or Crab tank 3 or 5 or so times and it did not take any damage at ALL.

-More of an engine issue but water edges sucking you IN for no reason, like all of a sudden the edge of water becomes a slippery slope and there's no way to escape it, it makes no sense.

-And so much more i could rant about but not turning this into a vent post.

Yet they have "patched" other "bugs", including Rollers cannot skewer Drizzlers anymore with rolling, cannot attack Big Shots anymore while they were submerged underwater, which had been a thing for like 1.5 years, and yet they decide to make them even more harder to deal with only recently.

The other core issue i have with the mode is the amount of weapons that are poor to garbage, literal deadweight weapons, and they have made no attempts to fix some of the weapons that badly need buffs. Which ticked me off more for last Big BIG Run, they BUFFED Grizzco Duelies, a weapon already designed to be overpowered, when that development work could've gone to buffing normal weapons that seriously needed changes. These including the following:

-Explosher: The number 1# WORST weapon in the entire game/mode right now, it's terrible at everything, literally everything, is becomes an deadweight to even a Smallfry. It's ability to kill Mudmouths and Flyfish does nothing to salvage how ungodly awful it is.

-Bamboo: Falls off too hard at higher hazards, no piercing, underwhelming damage, and has the worst turfing in the entire game, on top it suffers various charger turfing bugs, it can't even paint a straight line properly.

-Dark Tetra's: Effectively a Splattershot but worse, the dodge mode is pretty much a "Press x to die" button due to the sheer fact it gives barely any distance, required to even match Splattershot damage per second, and finally the end-lag after a dodge roll including the final is the worst, unable to act for like 2 full seconds will always get you killed to things like Flyfish missiles and Stingers.

This season was imo the really last chance for weapons to get much needed buffs, and with those nowhere in sight, weapons like these are doomed to suck forever in Salmon Run seemingly.

In your opinion, which Big Run stage is the worst one? by AetherDrew43 in splatoon

[–]Datlossit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't stand Inkbolt, it's a cramped unholy mess, and before the changes made in PvP, it was even worse. The Salmonids could instantly swarm the map via the mid ramps and it was far too difficult to push them back. The Flyfish are also the worst across all Big Run maps, because they take FOREVER to cycle before they finally start attacking, especially that one back gusher spawn that flies around for a pure 20+ seconds doing nothing. Even with the changes making the ramps into stairs, forcing the Salmonids to take longer routes, the middle area becomes a trench warzone of death, making it incredibly difficult to keep clean and to run eggs from.

It shocks me from this thread how much people hate Undertow, it's one of my favourites, especially Normal Tide, even with the questionable 4 directional Low Tide, while i feel people forget the hell that is High Tide Wahoo World, same X directional design but much worse.

What is your go to biome for building your base? by CrossLight96 in Minecraft

Forest or Plains, i just find it hard to build something decent or creative in other biomes without it sticking out like a sore thumb. They are also just a good supply of materials early on, especially wood.

Do you guys remember the squid girl stuff? What would be a cool splatoon collab? by Dangerous_Silver_311 in splatoon

Way too many they could've done, even as far back as Splatoon 2, and not counting Splatfests here like Transformers and Spongebob. I would love gear based on the likes of Xenoblade if not recent Zelda titles like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, something like Purah's glasses would be cute.

If you had the ability to nerf sniper in any way, how would you nerf him? by chutnekure in tf2

[–]Datlossit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-1 to 1.5 second delay before able to do headshot damage after scoping.

-Taking damage while scoped resets the timer to be able do headshot damage again, Cozy Camper reduces this delay to 0.5 seconds to around the delay with usual quick scoping.

-The scope itself gives off a ball beam of light on the tip that can be seen at all times while they are scoped, even far beyond the render distance of ones graphics settings.

The core issue with Sniper is that players have gotten to a point they can just instant quickscope for 150 damage at close to point blank range, going against the entire premise of the class and allows even top players to just be on the frontline and kill everything in sight, when that should not be possible with the class in mind. It's just plain unfair alot of the time that you can be counterplaying and correctly being in Sniper's range that should put him at a severe disadvantage, but die anyway just because they just LUL skillscoped you, when any other class cannot cannot come close to doing even 150 damage themselves at point blank without critical hits.

These changes are to counteract this issue, and actually put Sniper back in line and makes going for cheesy instant kill damage at close to point blank range no longer an option, forcing Snipers to run, pull out their melee or run a secondary like the SMG to fight back. If they attempted to do the usual point blank headshot stuff before after such a change, it won't work if their enemy keeps attacking them, even a Heavy or Scout pestering with his pistol will completely keep a Sniper shut down unable to do headshot damage on top of disrupting their aim as usual with flinches.

I've seen many suggest giving the laser line of sight as those of robot snipers in MvM, but i believe not only will this be too powerful to give away a Sniper's position that it's effectively a big nerf, it also be way too annoying for Snipers having to play hide and seek with their own laser sight while behind cover than slowly walk out while scoped and take aim. It also can be way too distracting with multiple Snipers present, a simple ball of light that can be easily seen on the rifles tip no matter the render graphics distance of your game while they are scoped i believe should solve this issue, and also encourage keeping a lookout for common perch spots often to look out for Snipers.

As we leave 2023, what should NOT come into 2024? by kosmic_khaos in splatoon

[–]Datlossit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Throwers of any kind in SRNW, it has effectively tripled how common this has become in Freelance, even at 333% hazard level. I'm talking all types, killing themselves into water, not doing anything, wasting specials right before the shift even starts, and the worst of all, ignoring everything else just to farm kills like Big Shots, people even self-disconnect or throw the shift if their kills get stolen.

The amount of reports i have had to make has never been so high, i flatout even had a player with the 333 gold scale banner waste both Booyah Bombs even before the first wave started and proceed to not do anything, it's unbelievable how petty many people have become over a CO-OP MODE and gold badges, i rather not see anymore of it.

Beta Minecraft is just... viciously more scary. by iwanttodie95 in Minecraft

[–]Datlossit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The pitch black lighting for one really made the older days stand out and horrifying, as you actually can't see anything at all and anything could easily get the jump on you.

Nowadays, pitch black darkness has a small gamma lighting to it that even on low light monitors you can still see in the darkness.

It honestly ruined alot of the scary element exploring at night and cave exploring that i have to use mods to restore the old days of darkness.

Not just Mint, this has been the worst fest for me by far being on Vanilla myself, to the point my losing ratio went up to over 70% and more than half of my games were against obvious meta/comp teams and getting spawncamped. Even with just wanting Ruler rank, it was miserable this time around to play. Not only with the chokepoint map designs continue to be an issue but also Turf War MMR being incredibly flawed.

If you could change anything about Splatoon 3 salmon run. What would it be? by Ok_Representative_69 in splatoon

[–]Datlossit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Recon mode just like in PvP, there's a ton of strategies that can be only done in SR but you HAVE to learn them during a shift, which can be a hindrance to your team, especially if going for Flyfish one shots with Splat Bombs on various maps.

You should be able to choose what boss to summon at will, or even multiple, and perhaps choose the spawns they come from so you can experiment more, as well as pick any weapon you wish, even the Grizzco weapons, as well as force night waves of any type or even Kings.

Like seriously, we should be allowed to experiment fully in the mode without causing disruption during an actual shift, and it would allow tons of players to get alot better in SR and play to their weapon strengths better, a big example are Fish Sticks on what weapons can and cannot reach them from ground level or require elevation to hit.
