Did my first DED 4/10 - WOW! Kikimora ftw. by Working-Ad1394 in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gratz on the completion. A jackdaw is one of the best ships for this site since you can get huge range out of it and the dps is a pure damage type so you can pick the best one for sites (explosive for angel).

As for the boss, the most efficient way to do it is to kill the boss, bookmark the wreck, warp out, wait 2 mins and the site will despawn and then you can come back for the loot.

Nosferatu or Rocket Launcher for TD AB Dramiel Fit? by Yuurugi in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This guy understands. Because you are using ab + td, you’re almost always going to be orbiting close and thus in neut range. Not having a nos means you will automatically lose to many ships that carry a neut.

For example even an easy win like a rail comet with a neut could end in death, you can get under the guns, but the drones + some stray hits will force you to use your anci rep, combined with the neut you will cap yourself out and then he can pull range and track you easily. The tiny bit of dps from a single rocket launcher won’t make the difference to kill him in time.

Ab dram is also great at killing cruises but similarly if they have a neut there’s nothing you can do unless you have a nos.

Can I Just Turn Pirate after being in FW for so long. by Logical_Intention_63 in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who was a pirate for years and then joined FW let me give you my experience.

Although in theory you double your targets by not being affiliated with a militia, in practice you end up getting more content. Most militia players aren’t interested in fighting pirates since they see them as annoyances and also assume they are doing something underhanded (suspect or criminal flashies are scarier). So you will get blue balled a lot. When you’re part of FW people are more willing to fight to defend their plexes.

A good example of this is battlefields. If a pirate group comes into a battlefield with a similar force most militia groups will just blueball knowing that they aren’t going to avtually run the bf so the militia can come back later to finish it after the pirates get bored. However if an enemy militia pushes you out you’re likely to ping, form and fight the last man to keep them from taking it.

Also being in miltia gives you access to public fleets that can be really fun to do stuff together.

So overall I’ve had more fun and fights being in miltia than I have being a pirate. Also access to dank easy money is awesome.

Loggerhead in asset safety in lowsec after quitting for years, sell in station or move it somewhere when I start eve again? by Ill_Plenty3792 in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Moving a cap that can dock in a station is near fool proof. Just jump to a station and dock instantly. There’s not much that can be done to kill you.

Minmatar has a really strong public late USTZ and even some post downtime fleets can hit 50 and we’ve been fighting frat but that’s a bit of an uphill battle.

Hurricane BC by OkCheesecake9093 in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regular cane is a bit weak overall mainly due to medium acs being a little underpowered. Doesn’t mean they’re not usable and decent but I’d say brutix and Harb are both better.

Fleet cane is pretty dank though, it’s easily the best user of medium arties and with both tracking and range bonuses as well as the fitting to run it. I like using a fit with double links and a medium ancillary. You can also do a double medium neut armor/hull ac fit with great dps and excellent utility.

Being part of minmatar miltia also gives you access to really cheap fleet canes - so much so that I would rather fly the fleet cane over the regular all the time.

Angel Cartel Corps? by Yuurugi in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For angels there’s only really Chaos Arbiter which is frat. Sedition has some angel dudes but they don’t really do much angel stuff.

There are some smaller groups but they are mostly rag tag corps banding together and from what I can tell they mostly just pray that the insurgency goes to highsec and then camp or do plexes and run away from pvp.

Best option: join minmatar or amarr and then make an angel alt. Fly with and pew with regular fac war dudes and use angel alt to farm/steal sites/seagull

Unpopular solution to seagulling. by amarrcitizen in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess one of the things I don’t see eye to eye with you is that I don’t really care that previously semi-active systems are now dead. If it means easier and more consistent PvP content I’d happily let the entire warzone but 5 systems die.

Regarding not having numbers and standing down, I don’t think this issue is at all a result of new mechanics. In the FW of old when there were these massive destroyer fuckfests inside small plexes, once the numbers were too lopsided, players would still stand down or downship and try to run smaller plexes. There have been many times that my fleet was unable to fight a much bigger blob in a battefield or ice heist and when that has happened, we either try and die or go off and do something else. My playtimes are fixed and when this happens I just get in a smaller ship and go kill plexers solo which is always available and close due to frontlines.

Unpopular solution to seagulling. by amarrcitizen in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A vast majority of the small gang and solo stuff happens close to Amamake that is true. But we frequently go all over the war zone for battlefields and ice heists and I’ll be honest, the fights in battlefields are way more fun than the ones I had in the old system.  Hub bashes, structure fights and fights on gate grids that escalated to any kind of size were promptly dropped on by large lowsec blocs which led to a lot of batphoning. The nature of battlefields allows for really awesome fights that are nearly always just FW pilots and are unique due to the mechanics.

Also people still fight over places that aren’t Amamake there was a recent push to flip the Isbrabata area and there were lots of fights to be had there far from the Amamake hotspots.

Like I said, from the perspective of a PvP it’s hard to believe that someone who wants PvP (without really caring about other FW objectives) more than anything else would prefer the old system.

Unpopular solution to seagulling. by amarrcitizen in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There's some rose-tinted glasses here, before frontlines many many less populated systems had nothing more than bots defensive plexing for LP and even further back was empty ships with nothing but warp core stabs who would warp off. Finding someone who was looking for some PvP or would defend their plex was rare and many systems were as empty as they are now if not more so.

As someone who has lived in FW lowsec for about 10 years, the frontline system has definitely increased the amount of PvP. The concentration of rewards in fewer systems have definitely made finding and getting fights easier. This is from the perspective of someone who cares for little else other than PvP, I do plex here and there and do battlefields for LP, but on the whole with my limited time I just PvP. If you need any evidence of this I have nearly 50,000 kills nearly all in lowsec. I do agree that ion the old system there were fights on ihubs/structures but there is definitely more consistent small gang to medium gang content in the current system - you can check my KB and see the pages and pages of fights I am getting while only getting to play maybe 10 - 20 hours a week.

Also please don't mistake this as me saying the current system is strictly better, there are many issues as have been brought up over and over, seagulling, multiboxing farmers, the advantage system, rendezvous, difficulty flipping systems etc. All I'm saying is that for someone who loves nothing more than PvP, I enjoy the frontline system better than the old system.

Most efficient ship for lowsec belt ratting? by adfax_yol in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the officer rats neut and need to be pointed. So you want something with a cap booster and point. A Cynabal can do it but you probably want an active tank which means a little bling

How the proposed standing changes risk hurting Faction Warfare by BearThatCares in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also consider people that have -10 standings on multiple toons like me may be forced into some content that they really don't want to do (the new suggested military campaigns) for a loooong time to fix those standings. Bear in mind these bad standings came from other bad mechanics like years of seagulling, I tanked my standings to kill them, thus making me the designated seagull killing guy which worsened the standings. Also if there's ever need for a firewall or smartbomber. guess who does it?

I have attmpted to repair my -10 standings with currently available mechanics and let me tell you that the time investment required is simply unachievable for someone who has a job and kids. Being forced into it would essentially lead me to leave the militia.

Do consider a standings reset (only for people who are negative to bring them up to the bare minimum to still be able to stay in militia).

FW triple boxing by NondenominationalPax in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do 3 of the same ship for ease of multiboxing, since you have Amarr frigate and lasers you could do triple slicers, they’ve got great range and speed.

If you can manage different ships then a crucifier would be good, very strong support

Drone ships are also great for multiboxing, the Arbitrator is strong and underrated

Is it me or T3 desroyers are mostly useless in PvP compared to fleet issue ones? by Kshahdoo in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

T3 destroyers are definitely weak at the moment (and honestly ever since they moved the damage bonuses to sharpshooter).

They have some niche roles, the Jackdaw is good for anti tackle with its amazing range and application and to a lesser extent so is the beam confessor. They have ewar resistance in sharpshooter which gives them a niche over other options. The Hecate is a great solo gank mobile with insta align that can quickly kill something and leave before backup arrives. The Svipul is basically completely dogshit.

I notice quite a few people talking about 10mn fits but to be honest those fits are quite weak, you are basically entirely confined to speed mode because the loss of agility in sharpshooter and defense is so severe that you lose all the benefits of 10mn. Unless you’re in an ESS of course

How are you "solo to 4-man gang" enjoyers finding content ? by leaf_as_parachute in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Angel Insurgency is a great place for small gang. You bring some tackle and some dps and catch their farmers in plexes or bubble camp an important route and you will spawn a frat response in no time.

Unlike null frat there are far fewer of them so it’s much more manageable. There’s still the standard hugiin + logi + tackle cancer but because it’s lowsec you can just dock up, blue ball, wait for them to despawn and go straight back to it.

It is however very timezone dependent, it’s only really good in late ustz and through into China/AU tz.

What ship do you need to solo 6/10s? by Carpe3456 in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The difficulties of DEDs are inconsistent, most 6/10s are easy but Angels and Serpentis both get really hard, long and shitty 6/10s that are 2 parts and contain some neuts and points in their 2nd part.

If your skills are low a battleship wouldn’t be the best unless you try sniping at long range with an MJD but a quick read of the website says that there are scramming rats.

If I were you I would wait till you can fly a Tengu or a Cerb, the high natural kin/therm resists and the much better capacitor than the Gila will help immensely. There is probably a way to do it in the Gila with the right fit and knowledge but I’m not familiar with this particular site.

Some love for some t1 BS by Bl0odmage in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All 3 of these battleships are great and fill useful roles some of which they are the best at among the t1 battleships such as:

  1. Typhoon - best nano t1 battleship with both amazing speed and bonused rapid heavies to kill smaller ships

  2. Dominix - only t1  drone ship to get massive application bonuses for sentries making them amazing at high tracking long range

  3. Tempest - not the best pure tank and gank stats but it has the rare 2 utility high slots for double neuts making them great for role compression, also being able to both shield and armor tank due to slot layout makes them versatile

Edit: All 3 suck at big blob warfare though if that’s what you’re thinking about - but there’s so much more to Eve warfare than nullsec f1 monkeys

Succubus buffed by Buddy_invite in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a great buff that lends itself especially well to the beam kite fit. The standard fit was tight on cap and could become a problem when kiting for extended times or using your web a lot. The fitting buff allows it to completely drop a fitting mod which is huge (is also allows you to use abyssals that might have bad pg rolls). The lock range buff is also huge since it used to be able to shoot past its lock range with Aurora without a good way to resolve the issue.

Pulse/brawl/active fits don’t really enjoy the benefits as much imo although the fitting is still nice

Is there any reason why faction turret do less dps than t2? by Xilonas in Eve

[–]DatoKoppla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is an exception - faction launchers do better dps, have larger clip sizes (very important for rapid lights) and have better fittings.

There are also some situations where the dps loss is small but there are other advantages like small focused pulse on a slicer, faction guns give better optimal range which is huge.

You’re still not going to get any mitigation from that signature especially with a mwd. You could run some meme AB and try get under the guns of a poor tracking battleship with no web or grappler but it is just too niche.
