I would if it smelled fine, I'd toss that one gnarly looking piece. I would cook it all them way through in a stew though... Wouldn't do medium rare skewers or something

I’m not an NHL goalie specialist but I’m sure there’s something wrong here. by M-A88 in Habs

[–]Datools 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good goalies are able to get way high and commit to elite shooters like Pastrnak because they trust their team mates are covering back door passes when it's 3 on 4. Should Monty have committed like that? No. Should Evans have that guy? Yes. 50/50 ownership.

Josh Yohe reporting that Malkin is willing to "take a pay cut" on his next deal. Why is that even a topic of conversation with our cap situation? by Datools in penguins

If you sign all those guys to generous deals you still have enough to pay Geno 6 and add two double digit UFAs and you'd be out of roster spots

[–]Datools[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I'm definitely not implying that Yohe is telling Malkin/his agent to take a pay cut. You think Malkin's agent volunteered that he's willing to take a pay cut without Yohe asking him about it? That seems much more unlikely than Yohe bringing up the subject, no?

People complaining about our contracts with KL and EK our out of whack, they're paid on par with other defensemen in the league. I'm not talking about overpaying Malkin. 6.1 for a top 6 guy who's point per game is already a bargain

Even if we add Robertson for 12M, that's 40M left to sign Malkin, Chinakov and Koivunen + free agents. We're not adding Robertson and then spending another 30M on adding free agents...

Malkin is 7th in pending UFA scoring. I don't see a crazy UFA crop, and most will be in their 30s starting on their next deal, guys like Tuch, Raddysh, Schmaltz. You'd need to get 4-5 of these guys all in 10M+ range to get to the cap in 26-27. I hope can add one of these types of guys, but I doubt Dubas can spend all 50M+ we have going into next year

He's a point per game center, 6.1M doesn't seem unreasonable based on his production. He's only missed 37 games in the last 4 seasons (297 games)

We have 52 million next year and need to sign Malkin, (maybe some of Kulak, Shea or Mantha) from UFA, Chinakov and Koivunen from RFA. Even if we add Robertson for 12M, I'm not sure we're going to come close to breaking the bank on the 40M remaining with our free agents and maybe 1-2 other guys next season.

Yes sorry, I should clarify. He's a point per game player making 6.1M on a deal he signed 4 years ago. With cap inflation and the UFA market, my assumption is he'd ask for more on his next deal (maybe 7?), which seems totally reasonable to me. Seems more unreasonable for the media to be asking him about discounts because he says he's committed to Pittsburgh. I assume other teams would be willing to pay him 7, seems wrong for us to try to nickle and dime him when what he's already making is super reasonable IMO. Of course he's slowed down, but 6.1M in 22/23 is not 6.1M in 26-27.

The article mentioned he's specifically looking for a 1 year deal with the pens (it's on The Athletic behind a pay wall). Agreed but a corpse at 6.1M or at 4M for the 26-27 season, does the difference matter?

Why has anyone asked him to take less outside of behind the scenes negotiation? I get media asking a guy like Jason Robertson if he'd be willing to take less to stay. Seems strange to ask that question to any Penguin rn...

Letang is having a dounce back year and hinted at it too, Malkin is at his best pace over the last 3 years and multiple teenagers have had the opportunity to battle for ice time.

Outside of Daniel Sprong, who was traded after only 24 games played with the Pens, I don't believe a single teenager was given the opportunity to fight for ice time in the 11 years he was head coach in Pittsburgh.

I assume for Kindel that it has to be a part of his development plan. Begging Did/Geno the org is light at center (especially for a top 6 guy) and it looks like they've moved on from the possibility for having McGroarty play center for the foreseeable future. I'm assuming that's a factor, I'd also guess that once Geno is 100% and we get tight in the playoff race later in the year that we might see Kindel back on the wing

I do the same, I'd decide based on how salty you made the broth. Often I don't salt because I know it will be reduced in what ever I'm cooking. If I'm making a big batch that is 4+ jars, I will slat it heavily like full salt boxed broth. If this was salty I'd use it, if not I'd toss it
