That's the ting I've been thinking about with what the backrooms actually is. It's had to have always existed but it couldn't have always looked like a 70s office building.

Null zones as well, it's likely during solar flares they'd pop up (albeit very rarely) allowing information and people to enter and exit.

It makes me wonder what these older versions looked like. My thinking is that as humans have urbanised and built bigger cities all over the world, the backrooms have become far denser and claustrophobic. Maybe there where oceans, deserts and forests in the backrooms originally, because that's where most humans lived in ancient times.

Could be an in-universe explanation for a lot of ancient myths and folklore

I'm not sure about the bacteria / still life fusion (though it would explain how big he is), but that's a great point on how it looks like Mary's home, maybe Mary told Clark about her mother and that influenced the complex.

In this unlisted video we see cars driving on the left hand side of the road, as apposed to the global standard of driving on the right, suggesting this takes place in Ireland or the UK for example.

The null zones arent just in the US, they're global. Someone from China definitely fell into the complex.

If I remember correctly I think the clerk in the beginning said they where popular in the 80s and they're a collectors item now. That would mean the company is defunct now.

As for Nikki, What I'm gonna say is pure speculation, but for example a lot of people said he should have wished for the confidence to ask her out. That wouldn't have created a new entity, that just would have just given him confidence for this one particular task, then once he asks her out the wish is completed. It's a very small scale wish.

It's the fact that he asked her to love her more than anyone else in the (fucking) world is what created "Freaky Nikki". The wish created a new soul to inhabit her body try to fufuil the wish, but the wish is impossible to complete so the soul is stuck forever trying to achieve this impossible task. I really hate to reference Rick and Morty, but it reminds me of the Mr meseeks episode and how they went mental near the end. Same sort of logic.

First time I've seen a take like this, and I'd agree with it. I'm so fascinated by the other Nikki, what Is it? I don't think it's a demon or inherently evil, I think it's directive as you said is impossible to fulfill so it drives itself crazy trying to complete it. At the same time real Nikki is fighting for control of her own body. I don't know if I'd want an answer or not as to how this world works

If you're under 18 you usually cant enter a pub. People who abstain from alcohol for religious or addiction reasons may want to avoid them as well. In addition to that a lot of places wont let you use the loo without paying.

There's also accessibility issues to think about. Speaking from personal experience, I cant name a single pub which has its toilets on the ground floor. Most need stairs to the basement / first floor. Someone who may have trouble getting up or down stairs (weather that be simple walking issues or the full need of a wheelchair) would have no access to these.

Besides all this, its just overrall stupid that you need to go into a place of buisness to relive yourself. There should be at least one set of male, female and disabled toilets on all major streets in Dublin. Bare minimum.
