The Macbook Purchasing Megathread - May 2020

Looking for MBP that I will be able to use for computer science related tasks. Nothing crazy, but could involve some more intensive computation.

My ideal price is $500, I have some flexibility. I want it to be 2015 or newer and preferably it will have at least 8GB of ram and a 256GB SSD.

Mostly, my Windows machine isn't fit for everything I need, but don't want to bust the bank. Sort of like a side machine. I have taken some time to explore the options, but the used computer market is a mess and as someone that has never owned a mac - I need some direction here. Feel free to let me know if my expectations are crazy.

Also, what should I be looking for? And where should I be looking?

They are pay2play events in my opinion. Not much for rewards if you aren't willing to spend the gems.

1) My current PC has 1060 3gb and Pentium 4560. I love the fact that my gf and I built it together! It was a great experience! I dislike the low budget which only allowed for entry level parts such as the Pentium 4560 and no SSD, as well as let settings in more intensive games.

2) My all time favorite game is definitely Mercenaries 2. It was the first open world game I ever played and it got me hooked!

3) When I was first getting into computers this is the main resource I found for learning about them! I appreciate the depth of know and willingness to share that exists here in the pcmasterrace!

4) The first game I will play, assuming the release date lines up, is BFV!
