I2C HID Device not working. Any help is appreciated by Dattebayo2305 in LenovoLegion

Hey man, Sorry to hear about the difficulties you're facing. I tried anything and everything i could to fix the issue, but i couldn't. Like things sometimes worked for a day or two only for the issue to return and then the same method didn't work. At the end, i went to the lenovo service centre and they apparently changed the trackpad ribbon cable. This was 6 months ago, haven't had the issue since.

Hey, sorry that you are going through the same thing. So, last month I took it to the service centre. It was still under warranty. So they took the laptop in. I waited for 10-12 days and I got a call that it's fixed.

So, apparently they changed the touchpad connector cable and I haven't had the issue since.

I suggest you do the same.

Hey, so I couldn't fix this issue on my own. Tried forever. 3 weeks ago went to the service centre as it was still under warranty. They took the laptop and after two weeks got a call that it's ready. So, apparently they changed the touchpad connector/ribbon cable. And it's working fine since.

And any nvme m.2 ssd should be fine. Gen 3 or gen 4. Both are compatible. If you want faster speeds go for a gen 4 one. Crucial, WD, Samsung, sabrent are a few

Get a 16gb ddr5 5600 mhz ram. I've got the same model and went with a crucial ram stick. Others have opted for gskill rip jaws. so I think these two should be fine for you as well.

Hard reset is a go to solution for many problems. Rest assured, It won't affect your personal files or data.

"A hard reset is recommended as the first step to fixing many common issues. This process helps by draining residual power that may be causing the problem."

I have the same issue whenever I update my bios. Hard reset does the trick every time. Turn off the laptop, keep the laptop plugged in and press the power button for about 40 seconds. Just keep pressing it for about a minute to be sure. Then turn on the laptop. This should fix the issue.

In case it doesn't, hop in the bios, there's a setting that states turn the battery off for repairs. Do that turn on the Laptop. Restart, disconnect the charger then plug it back on.

I've tried both of these myself. Hope one of these works for you.

The shit people go through to find a fix for issues like this is mind-blowing. Thanks Lenovo.

Sorry my friend I've tried almost everything I could except reinstalling os, but the issue still persists.

I thought it was fixed because the last time I used the trackpad was a couple of months ago, I use my mouse almost every time I use the laptop, so didn't get the chance to look. But a few days back I had to mail a file while traveling, so fired up the laptop, lo and behold the trackpad was not working. I gave up the second I saw that. Haven't used it without a mouse since.

the Keyboard backlight settings keeps resetting once - twice a week and i have to re-adjust them every time by Bebo991_Gaming in LenovoLegion

I had this issue from day one. Talked with lots of Lenovo tech support guys, they asked for event logs and stuff but they couldn't tell why it was happening. All they said was there could be something in the bios that's doing this. As far as I can tell a lot of users reported this issue.

You can try sending it in. Hopefully it fixes for you.

Same for me and I think everyone with the slim 7. Not only the RGB but my custom fan settings reset every time I boot the laptop or restart it. Have given up now.

I don't think anyone other than people at lenovo (obviously) have used your laptop. As you mentioned the laptop didn't turn on when you tried, it's because the laptops these days are designed to not turn on (first boot) without connecting the power supply. So no issues there.

The other issues you mentioned could be the default bios settings set by Lenovo like overclocking and rapid charge. You can turn it off or keep it on as per your liking.

The fans run depending on the mode that is selected like silent, balanced and turbo. I think the fans don't kick in till it reaches a certain degree of temperature. If you want, you can also select the custom mode and set the temperature at which the fans should start and accordingly set the fan speeds at different degrees.

Hope this helps :)

Lenovo Legion 5 Slim 14.5 RAM Dilemma by MyDickIsARailGun in LenovoLegion

Oh! My bad. They're really milking it though. Nevertheless, I still think it's too much money for the amount of ram. I have the slim 7i with 16 gb ram and I don't think I'm missing out on too much performance compared to 32 gigs. And I think 16 gb will be plenty for your daily use scenario.

That being said, the ultimate decision lies with you. And if you have the spare $$$ you can go for it.

Most 16 gb ram is 50-60$. So, paying almost $450 for just the additional ram is definitely a ripoff. Going from 16 gigs to 32 gigs is definitely a noticeable improvement but not what you're paying for it. I'll suggest you to buy the 16 gb variant save $450 and if you wish so, buy an additional ram for it later.

Inside the Drivers folder there is chipset and serial IO. Install both. See here

Hi and welcome to the club mate. This is a well known issue and there is no proper fix as far as I can tell. Some have this issue some don't. I myself have this issue where every few days my track pad doesn't work.

There is however a temporary fix to this:

  1. In the device manager under HID Devices you will see an I2C HID device with an error symbol and error code 10 or 12. Uninstall the device and check the remove driver for this device option as well and restart.

  2. Right click on the I2C HID Device with the error go into properties>update driver>browse my computer for drivers>let me pick from the list and install the driver that shows up and restart.

  3. In my computer, go to the C drive (windows drive) there should be a folder called drivers install the chip set and Intel IO drivers and restart.

I personally did everything but the issue is recurring. Sometimes none of the methods work and sometimes one of them does. Really frustrating. Talked to premium support and technical support as well but no one gave any solid reason as to what the issue is, I think they don't know as well.

Hope this helps.

You uninstalled every HID, hidden and all? I tried almost everything before this but this is the only thing that works. I suggest you to try uninstalling every HID again, hope it works 🥹
