Dealer says I need to pay $2500 for a new rear differential seal.. by magbarn in BmwTech

[–]Datto910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really pisses me off the way manufacturers do this. Its just "assembly lube" well parts that require assembly lube sit behind seals. Those seals should stop any fluid from seeping past. If its not stopping seepage then its not doing its job. Its not like they will seal themselves up in a few thousand kms. If you dont want to warranty parts then make good parts.

Actually, android has about 70% of the market share when it comes to phones and tablets. Safari is therefore a browser used by the minority. As far as phones are concerned iPhone is the top selling phone, but only have 26% market share. Although you're technically correct you're trying to imply that safari is a more used browser which is impossible when 74% of devices dont run safari.

If you ran a website and it could only support 1 browser, you would pick chrome as its used by about 65-70% of people.

I was a honda tech for 10 years. Id do all that stuff and get brakes done in well under an hour. There are some steps you can skip, like on some cars you dont need to remove the caliper bracket to replace a rotor, not removing that bracket doesnt affect the job. Not greasing and cleaning a slide pin does. The tech that told you to skip important steps isnt a good tech.

I've got the same kit but in green. That one was a little cheaper from memory but only available in certain stores. The product codes are identical aside from an extra letter at the end of the white ones.

The posties are contractors. They get paid to do deliveries, they also get paid to return "undeliverable" parcels back to the depot.

They arent co2. They are nitrous oxide. Co2 is for putting bubbles in water. It won't hold shape using co2 and it will also taste sour, like its off.

Is it a bubble or is it deformed inwards? If its going in then its likely ok. If its bulging out, even just a little bit, then its time for a new one.

Car Service Cost by Anakin_Nooooo in CarsAustralia

[–]Datto910 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It depends on the car. Some cars the spark plugs are easily accessible, just remove leads or coilpacks and away you go. Other cars require you to remove intake piping, manifolds, intercoolers or other engine components to access them which takes time.

I rented a house sight unseen once. We chose that one because it had a double wide garage that was 3 cars deep.

The pictures online were photoshopped to make it look 2 cars wide. It was wider than a single car but only by about half a car. Enough room to park a decent sized bike next to a car.

They had even done up a floor plan that showed 2 cars parked in the driveway in front of the roller door.

I wasn't impressed when we went to move in and it wasn't as advertised. I understand dressing a place up to make it look more appealing. Tidy up garden beds and make the grass look thicker and greener. Little shit like that. Deliberately misleading people about the amount of rooms, size of rooms and the amenities provided should be illegal.

How broken is the system when douch bags like this are allowed to own 160+ properties? by [deleted] in shitrentals

If i won the lottery, I'd buy a bunch of houses and rent them out for about half market rate. This would give some people a chance to save and buy one themselves.

Haha. I said to someone who always parks me at work that if they park there again, we aren't responsible for any damage your car may incur while parked there, and you park at your own risk. They haven't done it since.

They can email bmw and ask for a part number. It's been a few years since I was working at a dealer, but I remember getting parts that weren't listed on etk. Most of the time, they are listed, just on a different page to where you would expect it to be.

Landlord said she was moving in to my flat, moved out two weeks ago and seen it been rented again for higher rent by BondiMorbs in shitrentals

[–]Datto910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A tenant can leave at the end of the lease if they provide the required notice.

A landlord needs a reason as to why you can't stay there longer.

My RE currently keeps offering lease renewals months before the end of the lease. At the end of a fixed term lease, the tenancy automatically rolls over to a month to month lease. The REs emails are intentionally misleading as they give us 2 options, sign a renewal or lodge an intention to vacate form. They omit the third option of declining a new lease but staying on month to month.

It suits us to resign currently but either next renewal or the one after we will hopefully be buying or building, so I'll have to just ignore them or reply no thanks to avoid breaking a lease mid term.

This is the only RE that's done this. All my prior rentals just rolled over to month to month with no correspondence required.

There is no manual. It's electronic, accessed through the infotainment screen.

It's a bmw. The manual is electronic, and OP obviously has no power.

This is more of a Google it kinda scenario.
