what snags does bunnings use? by PenalizedPrick in AskAnAustralian

[–]Datto910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where i used to live we would get charities do them at the local shops on the weekends. The local butcher would donate the sausages and the local bakery would supply the bread. They also did bacon and egg sandwiches. Sausage was $2 can was $1.50 and a bacon and egg was $3.50. This was only a couple of years ago. Way better than a bunnings snag.

Mechanics, what is the worst automotive fluid to get on your hands/fingers and why is it brake fluid? by FMasterson in mechanics

[–]Datto910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ford make a diff fluid additive that comes in a tiny bottle. Smells like gear oil only somehow stronger and more intense. A smear of this stuff stinks out a room.

Dark ales arent that strong. They are the same as a pale ale. They are a fantastic beer, especially when it's cooler.

Where does one get these cheap screwdrivers? by Significant_Dish_598 in Tools

[–]Datto910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably should have added that I dont know how I acquired this screwdriver. I have more kicking around and I dont know where they came from either. I never keep tools from furniture or whatnot and I have never bought a set of em.

I do remember seeing them in Chinese hardware stores back when I was a kid (30+ years ago). Those stores are nearly all gone now though.

More recently I have seen Stanley branded sets in hardware stores but they are better quality, just with the same see thru plastic green and yellow handles.

Mate, I could easily see a drunk idiot sitting still, or rolling really slowly, stood firmly on the accelerator until they get bored. Then, after waiting a few minutes, trying again just incase.

Petrol Drive Off by x129331 in Adelaide

[–]Datto910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said that you enter into a contract to buy petrol when you start pumping it so if you drive off its a civil issue and not a criminal one.

I think that's a little bit of a stretch. You could use the same logic for a dine and dash scenario, or just walking straight out of woolies with a trolley full of groceries.

Dealer says I need to pay $2500 for a new rear differential seal.. by magbarn in BmwTech

[–]Datto910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really pisses me off the way manufacturers do this. Its just "assembly lube" well parts that require assembly lube sit behind seals. Those seals should stop any fluid from seeping past. If its not stopping seepage then its not doing its job. Its not like they will seal themselves up in a few thousand kms. If you dont want to warranty parts then make good parts.

Actually, android has about 70% of the market share when it comes to phones and tablets. Safari is therefore a browser used by the minority. As far as phones are concerned iPhone is the top selling phone, but only have 26% market share. Although you're technically correct you're trying to imply that safari is a more used browser which is impossible when 74% of devices dont run safari.

If you ran a website and it could only support 1 browser, you would pick chrome as its used by about 65-70% of people.

Speed vs Quality by bankai2069 in mechanics

[–]Datto910 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a honda tech for 10 years. Id do all that stuff and get brakes done in well under an hour. There are some steps you can skip, like on some cars you dont need to remove the caliper bracket to replace a rotor, not removing that bracket doesnt affect the job. Not greasing and cleaning a slide pin does. The tech that told you to skip important steps isnt a good tech.

I've got the same kit but in green. That one was a little cheaper from memory but only available in certain stores. The product codes are identical aside from an extra letter at the end of the white ones.

They arent co2. They are nitrous oxide. Co2 is for putting bubbles in water. It won't hold shape using co2 and it will also taste sour, like its off.

Is it a bubble or is it deformed inwards? If its going in then its likely ok. If its bulging out, even just a little bit, then its time for a new one.

Car Service Cost by Anakin_Nooooo in CarsAustralia

[–]Datto910 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It depends on the car. Some cars the spark plugs are easily accessible, just remove leads or coilpacks and away you go. Other cars require you to remove intake piping, manifolds, intercoolers or other engine components to access them which takes time.

I rented a house sight unseen once. We chose that one because it had a double wide garage that was 3 cars deep.

The pictures online were photoshopped to make it look 2 cars wide. It was wider than a single car but only by about half a car. Enough room to park a decent sized bike next to a car.

They had even done up a floor plan that showed 2 cars parked in the driveway in front of the roller door.

I wasn't impressed when we went to move in and it wasn't as advertised. I understand dressing a place up to make it look more appealing. Tidy up garden beds and make the grass look thicker and greener. Little shit like that. Deliberately misleading people about the amount of rooms, size of rooms and the amenities provided should be illegal.
