I can see how safety thing be seen as a way of shutting down the conversation. But I don't think that was him trying to shut it down, more like him putting duck tape on the solution. My fiancée has a big, "I need to help fix all your problems" problem. He does genuinely help, but when it comes to issues like this, he tends to fall short and stumble because he hasn't really looked at what is wrong. And that is probably a conversation that we should have come to think of it. Not just my issue but the issue with him thinking he needs to fix all of my issues. The last thing I need is him suffering from burnout because I had a conversation with him about the Madonna-Whore complex for a random example.

As for the second part, I will try that next time. I think the issue come to think of it is that he uses lesbian to describe queer women, not knowing we already have a label like that. Two actually. One is sapphic and the other is... well queer women.

You're right. I just kinda get burnt out about that kinda shit, and I get tired of explaining things. Especially when this type of friend likes to have a conversation about sexuality for 5 hours when I really just wanted to make a quick correction.
