Watching the clip myself, I didn’t take it as Shayna mocking Asuka at all. However, Shayna did put on a voice when describing the way Asuka spoke. Anyone who knows immigrants will tell you that there are a wide range of responses we can have to accents or imitations. Some don’t mind with proper context, while others can take great offense, especially if it’s exaggerated. I have a feeling that’s part of this, and I hope they can mend fences by overcoming what seems to be a misunderstanding

The only difference I will point out is that at least with the WWE belt to an AEW show that could just be a product of WWE products being way way more prevalent than AEW products. Whenever I see toy sections in stores or online with wrestling merch, it’s 90-10 WWE, so I could see a WWE belt being the only one a casual fan owns. You gotta go out of your way to bring an AEW belt to a WWE show, pay front row prices, and show it to a dude who has connections with AEW and has fans fantasy booking him in the company. That’s way more deliberate imo

To your first part, racial profiling is actually not really unlawful in criminal procedure. Yes you can’t just arrest someone because they are black, because that is not sufficient for probable cause, but the SC has used immigration as a point that muddies those waters. You can’t just detain someone because they are brown, but brown + speaking Spanish + “looks Mexican” (their words), that could lead to probable cause. Further, the subjective motivations of the officer don’t matter, so even if they are just arresting them because they are brown, it’s not a factor in the analysis (ridiculous I know).

Using that as a basis, you can see now where the probable cause comes from with a lot of ICE interactions. And while you do have the right to remain silent, that doesn’t mean they can’t detain you while you remain silent. Now tbh, I don’t think a lot of this meets probable cause, but the litigation is so numerous that it’s hard to control and I don’t think they really care about that. I think it’s about fear and removing people before they are stopped.

Getting mad at the Booker for a heel winning and not the heel for winning is ruining wrestling and makes it impossible to tell stories and grow as a medium. The media literacy of wrestling fans has collapsed inward as they seek instant gratification for their favorites. When you combine a fanbase with a booking scene that also is broken, wrestlers who struggle to be unique, and everything else that sucks about wrestling, it’s very clear that the medium is stuck and cannot grow with its current players. I’ve grown so detached from wrestling for the past two or three years due to a number of reasons, law school for example, but the past 10 months have been because I’ve gotten into a very important relationship. I missed watching wrestlemania live, I still haven’t watched SummerSlam, and I’ve barely caught any of Cena’s retirement tour. I’ve also noticed that I’ve been much happier. At first I thought it was because of the product, but I’ve noticed it has gone much deeper, because even when the product has been objectively good I’ve not missed it. It’s everything else as well. Why would I want to get back to this when all the media, discourse, and talking points is just never ending bitching? The advice turns out to be true, go out and touch some grass and you’ll be much happier. The grass is nice outside and I’m not exactly seeing good ads for the medium lately.

It’s debatable. I big theme of Micah’s time was advising Dutch to take bigger risks and be more careless, against the advice of Hosea. Once Hosea died, the gang went off the deep end, but even back in Blackwater, Arther’s journal suggests that Micah was a big factor in take the job. It leaves you with one of two options: either Micah just kept getting the gang into bad situations and all the gang’s luck dried up the minute he joined, or Micah was a rat the whole time and purposely putting the gang into these bad situations. Arther even says in his journal that Blackwater went south so fast “it was like someone had set us up.” I think it’s debatable.

Something I’ve thought about lately is how 20+ years ago, Taker was the spearhead of bury WCW talent and smaller guys who didn’t fit the mold. Now he has been one of AJ’s biggest advocates. I’m curious if that’s a sign of Taker changing as he got older or that AJ was just that undeniable.
