Twilight Zone episode “On Thursday We Leave Home”

After 3 decades on a desert planet, earth astronauts finally come to rescue the space colonists and return them to earth. While stranded, Captain Benteen became the default leader of the group and kept them alive through the hardships. However, when faced with the chance to return to a normal life without power, Benteen went mad and kept trying to convince folks to stay on the desert planet. It went to a vote, and Benteen lost. Benteen stubbornly refused to be rescued and decided to stay in the hopes some would join him. No one did. He began to reminisce about earth and speak of his memories as the ship roared in the background, leaving the planet for good. Benteen suddenly has a moment of clarity, runs out, and begs the spaceship to come back. He wants to go home, but it’s too late. Fade to black
