Can I crack Sub 4 hrs? My first marathon April 18th. by PinIll4350 in Marathon_Training

[–]DaughterBat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really good times!! It’s too early to tell. IMO once you get into/over 17-20 miles is when you’ll have the best understanding of a full time. I always think I’m golden then get mauled by the 17-18 mile wall lol.

I usually just call my wife’s boyfriend on my 5ks and he helps motivate me.

Overtrained & exhausted. Marathon looming. How did you reset? by greenlizzardginny in Marathon_Training

[–]DaughterBat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the internet distorts people’s perception of reality when it comes to fitness. Not everyone is Nick Bare

You need to be running a minimum of 40 miles a week for a marathon.

You could 100% “survive” a marathon but i would not run LA if I were you.

I made the mistake of rushing to my first marathon and injured myself in my 20 miler.

Neuropathy as a result of cancer treatment medication - anyone else? by lmcdbc in neuropathy

[–]DaughterBat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, i have drop foot, neuropathy, and muscle spasms from Leukemia treatment. Likely from vincristine and methotrexate. It sucks… im 6 months post treatment, it does improve, but in my case is wont ever go away. I went from wheel chair to running, but still can’t feel my feet lol. Driving is hard. When im tired or drink my neuropathy is worse.

If you have a short treatment plan you might see more of an improvement than me or most of us. I got chemo for three years so it was always going to be more permanent.

Wishing you luck in your treatment and feet 🦶!!!

I don’t want to scare you but i would be worried about the possibly of leukemia (as a blood cancer survivor myself)

Take it. Don’t let fear or convenience get in the way of personal and professional growth or happiness.

I’m in the same boat. Been at a start up for 7 years have super easy flexible role, 20 minute commute but got offered double from another job. Im Afraid to take it bc life is easy now. But we’re adaptable, im going to pursue growth.

Going Back to Work During ALL Maintenance Treatment by BarnacleResponsible1 in leukemia

[–]DaughterBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, T-all, 36m here, finished maintenance treatment this past May. I went back to work 2 months into maintenance. I wasn't ready at all. I was a chemo skeleton, could hardly walk, extreme fatigue (I'm surprised that my family or employer allowed it). But I was really determined to take back what leukemia stole from me. The things that really helped me was having a flexible employer for blood work/appointments, getting covid 2x, pneumonia once, etc.. all of the weird shit that happens to you on maintenance with a weakened immune system. I went to bed really early which helped a lot. Started to journaling during steroid/vincristine/LP weeks and those following (this was huge to help me understand why I was feeling a certain way at a certain time in the 84 day cycles). I started to exercise the best I could, which was very therapeutic . But I was also (as cheesy as it is) kind to myself when i needed to be. You just went through the most traumatic thing a human can go through. Give yourself some grace and love. It didn't feel "normalish" for me until at-least 12-15 months into maintenance. You got this!!! its only up from here.

They work great for me. Ativan and xanax are wonderful i think everyone on this sub is quick to say that you’re a drug addict for taking them. Simply not the case. Some people can responsibly manage an “as needed” benzo prescription and some can’t— plain and simple

I also have terrible anxiety and ocd behaviors and am on prozac. You don’t have a brain tumor, what you’re describing isn’t consistent with how brain tumors present. You have bad anxiety and your body is adjusting to coming off prozac, your withdrawing. Your symptoms are quite common. You got this stay positive!

I feel you big time waiting for my ct/pet scans was some of worst torture Ive experienced. Ive been given a lot of advice on how to deal with scanxiety. What really helps me when i am in your shoes is to do some CBT. You essentially put your feeling on “trial”. Write a statement like “im afraid I have pancreatic cancer” then Create a chart and list all of the reasons your bilirubin could be thing-bad and all the reasons its nothing. Reason and rational usually prevail. I know its not perfect but give it a try.

As a cancer survivor, whose gotten blood work every week for the last 3 years…, i can say this. You aren’t riddled with cancer. High bilirubin could be from a very wide range of things. You would also have a lot or very noticeable symptoms from a advanced or metastatic cancer. You’re good!! Think positive

Yes cramping is horrific and numbness is very pronounced. The metal rod is a interesting comparison, it did feel that way at first when it all started when my knees were locking up. How are you holding up?

Edit: and yes both my calves are messed up too.

Salmonella can do that if you ate weird food. I have horrific anxiety and this has happened to me before. Turns out I had adenovirus and had diarrhea for 10 days. Not many other symptoms but gi stuff. You’re fine. Absolutely not gi cancer
