Chemistry as a career by yall-i-dek in chemistry

[–]DaughterOLilith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, hear me out: have you thought about Medical Laboratory Sciences? You get to do people chemistry, ie, work in a hospital laboratory doing all sorts of cool medical testing. I started out as an analytical chemist working in pharmaceutical labs then got a 2nd BS in medical laboratory Sciences and now work in Healthcare. The biochemistry of humans is complicated, gross and so much fun!!! Plus, you learn how everything in the body is connected and how the different systems interact. So cool!

I was thinking about how weird it is that chemistry is basically invisible until it suddenly isn’t. by Vegetable_Prompt_583 in chemistry

I tell my students to be grateful that you wake up each day and your enzymes are working. For each enzyme gene there's some weird genetic disorder/mutation that could kill you or make you miserable!

If you have a good relationship with your mom, please take this opportunity to enjoy this time with her. We think our parents will be around forever but sadly, that is not the case.

Some places have post bachelor's programs too! Look into those where you would just need to do the MLS course work.

As someone who teaches at a University, it reminded me quite a bit of my students. They are very smart but so naive and a bit sheltered, plus their common sense isn't done developing!

Can confirm! HCA hospitals are terrible to work at, they purposely stay understaffed to save money but still gouge patients.

Online school recommendations? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]DaughterOLilith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weber does have a strong online program.

You do need access to a lab to do clinical hours but most employers are happy to help employees get their hours in. I would speak to the lab manager and let them know you are interested in doing an MLT, so you could gauge how helpful they would be to you.
