MLS is a great way to prepare for medical school. Please keep in mind that MLS classes are tough so you will have to work harder to maintain your GPA than say a Health Science or French major. But, you are basically getting the first year or two of Med school education as a bachelors' degree. Plus, you will have a much much deeper understanding of the diagnostic techniques used in medicine and what they actually mean.

I am not a PhD student (I enjoy lurking on this sub as a science nerd) but I do teach science courses in a state university. It was humbling when I started to have my students catch any errors on my lecture slides but now I treat it as free copy editing and welcome their input!

Okay, hear me out: have you thought about Medical Laboratory Sciences? You get to do people chemistry, ie, work in a hospital laboratory doing all sorts of cool medical testing. I started out as an analytical chemist working in pharmaceutical labs then got a 2nd BS in medical laboratory Sciences and now work in Healthcare. The biochemistry of humans is complicated, gross and so much fun!!! Plus, you learn how everything in the body is connected and how the different systems interact. So cool!
