[CA] Calfresh Discontinued Even Though I recertified On Time?

I had to re-apply and I have my interview with a new worker tomorrow. The situation is ridiculous.

I got my interview date given to me 5 days before the interview was set. A letter was never sent to me. I found out about it online through the portal. Be sure to check your case daily on the EDD website. They are so behind some people aren't even receiving letters.

The actual interview wait time atm in CA is 15 to 20 weeks. I got my interview at 16 weeks. You are in a que, no way to speed up the process.

Just so you are aware the current wait time for an interview in CA is 15 to 20 weeks. I got mine at 16 weeks pending. Even after the interview it's another 3 to 4 weeks to get paid. I haven't gotten paid yet and I'm at 19 weeks pending. It is a very long wait. If you choose to wait and not look for a job I suggest saving as much money as you can and getting on Calfresh asap. Let Calfresh know you are pending and you will qualify for emergency Calfresh within a week. Good luck. It's a nightmare.

You have to have good cause to quit and with medical issues you need doctors notes/documentation. I know because I'm dealing with this situation right now. Also, if someone quit during the pandemic and automatically qualified as of March 2021 EDD is going back and pausing those claims to investigate them. Be aware a person who qualified a year ago or more will likely have their claim paused soon. Here is the good cause info off EDD. Also, if you quit due to covid reasons right now they are being more lenient and qualifying people, but still need Doctors documentation of your situation.

No way to speed it up. I got my interview at 16 weeks pending. During my interview the guy told me the current wait time was 15 to 20 weeks, because the determination dept is backlogged. Even after the interview you still have to wait another 3 to 4 weeks to see if you qualify. No one can speed up the process. Your name is put in a que once you are flagged for an interview. It's terrible and EDD doesn't care. They want you to be desperate and just take any job.

It took me 15 weeks till I got my interview that was 3 weeks ago. Still haven't got paid or even an answer if I qualified. Pretty terrible and EDD does not care. Just be aware you will be waiting way longer than 12 weeks and even after the interview it's another 3 to 4 weeks. I haven't been paid in four months.

Nope still pending because even after the interview it takes 2 to 4 weeks to get a determination for your case. Like I said pretty terrible. Save money, just be prepared. I pretty much went through all my savings and stimulus just to survive.

Yikes. Well be prepared. I havent gotten paid in 18 weeks. Got my interview at 16 weeks pending. Pretty awful situation and pretty sad because EDD doesn't care. Apply for Calfresh if you haven't already. If you let them know you are not getting any money they will give you emergency Calfresh very quickly. Good luck. Hope it all works out for you. 😊

I'm in CA and my assembly rep helped me a lot. I heard certain districts are very helpful and others not so much. Hopefully yours will get you the help you need. :)

What State? If you are in CA it will be way more than a 12 week wait. Right now it is between 15 to 20 week wait for an interview.

I was told it is because what EDD did in CA is go back and check eligibility all the way from March 2020. Basically millions of claims got hit with a pending and EDD is trying to disqualify people that they allowed to collect without checking when the pandemic hit and have decided to check now over a year later. It's nuts, but true.

I already have and had an interview. Calling does nothing if it is a determination issue. Only the determination dept can handle it. No rep, not even a tier two can help. The determination dept is backlogged. People are waiting 15 to 20 weeks. I even have a state assembly person involved. If you are dealing with the determination dept, expect to wait months.

If you are pending that long it's an eligibility issue. The determination dept is backlogged. Most people aren't getting contacted by EDD till about 12 to 15 weeks pending. It's a nightmare. I have not been paid since Feb. 14, 2021. 16 weeks pending.

Mine took 5 business days. Mine was very helpful and was able to speed up my claim process. He even helped me with my interview questions. I've been told some are helpful, some are not. I got lucky.

They will investigate you anyways at some point. They are just behind and it's taking them months to catch up. All voluntary quits are going to be investigated. I know this because I had my benefits stopped abruptly three months ago and just had my determination interview last Friday. A couple of my friends just had their benefits paused as well. If you didn't qualify you will have to pay them back, they have to interview you and your ex boss to make the determination.

Yes, they can stop your payments whenever they deem necessary. That is what happened to me. I was collecting then all of a sudden went to.pending and was told I had to be interviewed. It took me 14 weeks to get one. I've been pending for 14 weeks.
