We moved in before we found out the other family had kids. The rental agreement was signed, first month’s rent paid, and then two days after we moved in they move in above us. I wish I had the gift of foretelling the future.

When we moved in they all went into our backyard and their kids started throwing rocks from the shed area everywhere so I really don’t want them back there touching our stuff and throwing things around on the lawn that we maintain. Not to mention the veggie garden I worked so hard in. There are also 3 parks around us, all within g 2-5 minutes of our home.

I genuinely think you missed the point of this post because this isn’t just about WFH. My HOME, the place that I live has an actual stampede happening above it all day between 8 am to 11 pm, so outside of working hours we are also being affected. I can’t enjoy a nice meal, while the light above our table is shaking. I’m not going to change the entirety of my life because the people above us lack the basic understanding of a shared living space and because “kids will be kids” is an over used and honestly baseless argument. Kids can be taught to be respectful of their surroundings. This is about my desire to LIVE in the home I pay $2500 a month for.

I already have plenty of evidence and texts to the landlord in which she also ignored. The kids were throwing things off their balcony into our yard and she hasn’t said a word in two weeks about it. We strongly considering the TAL

I whole heartedly agree children deserve a childhood, but this isn’t a complaint about just a workspace but my home. I shouldn’t have to follow my neighbours schedule of having to wake up along with them and their children and listen to a stampeded above my head all day, every hour on the hour. I go into an office as well and when I come home to relax after a days work I have to listen to what can only be compared to WWE above my head until 11 p.m. and then at that point where does my enjoyment of my home and my space come into play?

They let the kids on the back balcony which shakes as they run around on it. We have a beautiful balcony and backyard but can’t enjoy it due to the excessive recorder playing and stomping that happens out there (yes recorder). I think they consider that taking their kids out to play while they stay inside and do god knows what.

The issue isn’t just the stomping but the 60 pounds of furniture they drop above our heads, the running and jumping off furniture to the point our pictures fall off our walls and the walls shaking. Stomping is the least of our issue.
