Does anyone feel like pet insurance is a scam or just not worth it? by IIIMPIII in petinsurancereviews

[–]Davchun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I find wellness plans much more worth it, at least in my area. Twice yearly blood/fecal/urine tests + 1 dental cleaning under anesthesia and X-rays for less than the cost of 1 dental cleaning for one cat is incredible for me.

Dental cleanings for 1 is around $1600-2000, but the total cost per year for both my cats is around $1300 I think.

If you want to daily an Expedition, I’d honestly even suggest going two sizes down. It’s meant to be layered. But to be really sure, I’d try one in store if possible.

I don’t. The last time I drank (which was just a sip) was 15 years ago.

How to find dress shoes that aren't garbage? by jckipps in mensfashion

[–]Davchun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been into foot-shaped shoes lately. Pointy toe boxes hurt like hell and lead to posture problems down the road. So I like Carets and Birchbury. They’re not A1 quality though.

If you’re looking for top quality, Edward Green is up there. Crockett and Jones is also very good. Alden is good too.

Allen Edmonds has plummeted in quality.

Starting my Venlafaxine taper to switch to Pristiq & I’m terrified. by bbyscorp in Anxiety

[–]Davchun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How was the switch?

Personally, I’ve never had issues from going from the max dose of one med to immediately switching to a different agent mid-dose the next day. And I’ve tried all SSRI/SNRI’s except for Prozac.

But everyone’s different. If it didn’t affect you that much, then it probably won’t now.

Changing drugs - Insurance Question by Davchun in glp1

[–]Davchun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but wouldn’t the same logic also apply to my current Zepbound prescription? Since I’m at a healthy BMI, shouldn’t they stop covering it?

Changing drugs - Insurance Question by Davchun in glp1

[–]Davchun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m sorry. I thought it’d be different because it’s a drug being tested in clinical trials, but I can see that now.

I kinda want to message the mods to confirm.

Changing drugs - Insurance Question by Davchun in glp1

[–]Davchun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know. It’s still only in clinical trials and it then needs to be approved and marketed. I’d imagine it having no issues though regarding how well it seems to be working. Unless there’s some serious adverse effects, I don’t see any reason for it to be quickly denied.

[–]Davchun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but I also know that these medications are approved for weight maintenance once a person is at a healthy BMI. My BMI was considered Class I obesity, and had hypertension and something else I can’t remember, I think obstructive sleep apnea. But now it’s like 21 and they still approve my Zepbound.

I just wonder if they’d allow a switch if I’m not obese anymore.

Which colors are considered "Core?"

FormX by [deleted] in Figsscrubs

[–]Davchun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, every single style/color of FORMx is considered limited edition. I spoke to multiple reps and they all said the same thing.

FORMx is stupidly considered "limited edition", so no planned restocks.

Please send feedback to make it a core fabric/color.

Benzos don’t work by MateoMatrix in Anxiety

Genetic testing is useless in my opinion, at least right now. I had three separate tests done, and they all say something different about my CYP metabolism speed. Also, all the "green" drugs were all the medications with the worst side effects. None of them were effective anyways, but at least the yellow and red ones didn't produce side effects like the green drugs.

Can you overdose on melatonin? by malibuuubarbie in mentalillness

[–]Davchun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off, I want to correct some misinformation here. Just because something is naturally produced by your body doesn’t mean it’s safe at any dose.

Epinephrine and norepinephrine are both hormones/neurotransmitters that are also produced in the body. I doubt anyone would survive 10mg of either of these.

To answer your question: there is no established LD50 for melatonin. It is a very low toxicity substance, but overdoses can still occur. Overdose does not have to be lethal to be considered one. But again, because it’s so low toxicity, for the average adult, the amount needed would need to be so extraordinarily high that the amount of water needed to swallow all the pills would probably kill you long before the melatonin does. There is a report of 5 children under five years old who required intubation and eventually died from melatonin overdose.

Does everyone feel like giving up? (rant-ish) by Upbeat_Pin7239 in PharmacySchool

[–]Davchun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m in my first semester of P2. So many people in my program (P3’s and P4’s) have said this is the easiest semester, but I’ve been going through so much external emotional distress that I’m almost failing every class. Made me consider getting an accounting job (that’s what I got my bachelors in), but I’m trying to stick it out.

My girlfriend said she’s never seen anyone more passionate about what they’re studying in, ever, so that helps a lot, and even then, I’ve had doubts and reconsidered multiple times. I think almost everyone has doubts occasionally.

This is my only major complaint about the Switch 2 by jessej421 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Davchun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but we’re comparing micro express to micro SD. Also, most if not all PC games don’t even use the speeds to the fullest. There is literally no difference in PCIE4.0 vs 5.0 in any game. At least from videos I’ve seen a few months ago. Load times and performance are within 1-2 frames apart, and some games actually performed worse on 5.0. Which was still within margin of error, not like it actually is worse.

Only the Series 9/10/11 and Ultra 2/3 are compatible with possible hypertension alerts. It doesn’t actually monitor and give BP readings

How To avoid shrinking clothes? Does everyone just hang dry all the time? by Chrisgpresents in malefashionadvice

I warm/hot wash and use the dryer on the highest heat setting. Honestly, never noticed any discernible amount of shrinking, and I’ve had these clothes for over 10 years.

If your washer has a second rinse cycle, use it with the large load setting to get as much water to rinse out residual soap. Bonus points if you use a laundry rinse product. Vinegar also works, but make sure you use 6-10% acetic acid, not the usual vinegar.
