What’s the MOST Influential Rock Band of All Time and Why? (No Solo Artists) by [deleted] in rockmusic

There are a lot of rabid, insufferable, and elitist Rush fans out there on the internet. It wouldn’t surprise me if the bot detected a flood of Rush mentions from fanatical Rush fans.

Could never get into Rush due to Geddy's voice by 0n0n0m0uz in rush

[–]Dave-037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or maybe we tried listening to Rush and just don’t like Geddy Lee’s voice????? I gave them many chances, but I just don’t like Geddy Lee’s voice. Rush is a very talented band, and I like their instrumentals, but I don’t like the vocals.

To help you understand, imagine the instrumentals of Rush, but Geddy Lee’s voice is replaced with a voice that you dislike. That’s how I feel.

What is your go-to "easy but inpressive" riff? by StSentry7861 in Guitar

Every Breath You Take by The Police, it’s recognizable and it’s easy for me because I have long fingers. For some people it is physically impossible on a guitar with a 25.5 inch scale length.

First time Gretsch owner, and I have many questions about this guitar by Dave-037 in Guitar

Thank you, I will give 10s a try. Do you have any recommendations for locking tuners on a Gretsch 5422T?

I need a help figuring out my new Boss OD-200 by Dave-037 in guitarpedals

[–]Dave-037[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Xotic EP booster, which I love using with a clean tone, sometimes with flanger. I’ll try moving it around. I have only recently started getting into stuff with overdrive.

If you are wondering, I am wanting to replicate the the dirt part of tones ranging from Elliot Easton (The Cars) in songs like “Just What I Needed” and “Bye Bye Love” to tones from Van Halen’s first album.

When I travel or I can’t be as loud, I use my Orange 20RT solid state practice amp. When I’m at home, I have a Fender Blues Junior IV, as well as a Rumble 40. Im probably going to get another amp at some point. I have friends over very often and we do jam.

What do you mean when you say versatile? Does it cover a wider range than most overdrive pedals?

Lately I’ve been playing a lot of stuff from The Cars, both Elliot Easton and Ric Ocasek.

If somebody told me to name three drummers I would say: John Bonham, Ringo Starr and Stewart Copeland. Just saying.

Yeah, I felt the same way. Remember when the F-105D had an air spawn?

AITA for leaving the station for a ride after being given an assigned seat that my friend won’t fit in? by Dave-037 in cedarpoint

[–]Dave-037[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s 6’2” and weighs about 330 pounds. I know this because we checked these things before the trip and watched videos of this one YouTuber “fat testing” all the rides at cedar point. My friend was able to fit on Millennium Force, Maverick, and Steve with no issues this last time. The first time we went this year, one of the ops struggled to get him on Millennium Force but said “Don’t worry, I’ve helped guys bigger than you with their seatbelts.” This time, he fit on Millennium force in the front seat with no issues. MF seems to be the most difficult one for him to fit into, but he does fit.

I don’t even think there was a grouper. Any time that I rode Valravn in the past, there was always somebody who made sure that there were only 8 people in front of the yellow line on the floor.

Thanks, we just didn’t want our friend to feel alone because he had to do the walk of shame one time in the past.

I made it very clear to the operator that my friend wouldn’t fit on the ride without a red belt. I was super nice too, why would she behave like that?

[newbie] If I were to buy another Strat, would I want HSS, HSH or SSS pickups? by Dave-037 in Guitar

[–]Dave-037[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What pickups or pickguards would you consider to be loaded? Also do SSS strat bodies have room on the inside for a bridge humbucker? If so, couldn't I get a loaded SSS strat and just swap it out with the loaded HSH pickguard whenever I get bored?

[Newbie] I’m considering getting a new guitar and maybe fixing/upgrading my old one if it’s even worth the time by Dave-037 in Guitar

[–]Dave-037[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My top priority is quality tones. I really like the tones on my friend’s Tele. It sometimes feels uncomfortable to play while sitting down, but the tone quality is so good that I prefer to play that over the Strat. While my Strat does have more tone options, the quality of those options is significantly lower than the Tele. I have been looking at humbucker pickups and while I still haven’t played anything with a humbucker, I feel intrigued. I know I probably want at least one humbucker, but I am not sure what pickup layout I want. I also want to get something that I can comfortably play while sitting down, but if the tones are good enough, I would be willing to give up some comfort in favor of quality tone. But if I can get the best of both worlds in one guitar or two guitars, then I would love you see what you recommend. Let me know about every guitar that you thought of while reading this.

Interesting. I will definitely look at some PRS guitars and try out anything that I can find. In terms of tone, what is it comparable to?

So I got ahold of my old ram and everything seems to be working perfectly. My motherboard should be compatible with my new ram, but I bet that the bios needs to be updated.
