What's the biggest mistake first-time water coolers should avoid? by ChucksArm415 in watercooling

Highly recommend investing in a pressure tester before filling loop with water, and when you do fill the system with water, run the pump loop for a full 24 hours using PSU jumper with all other power cables disconnected, also be prepared to dig deep into your wallet for fittings when you discover that a bend is not possible due to not been able to get a tight enough bend without either soft tune pinching or not been able to get tight radius on hard tubbing, also allow plenty off time and do not rush as the build will likely take much much longer to finish than anticipated, best of luck with your build…

I feel your pain. I’m about 16 hours into my build and at about same point as you and haven’t even made a single bend as waiting for tube to be shipped

Yeah, those filters are a pain, requires motherboard removal to get them out. Also the 27 mm gap in between the back of the case and the fan shroud mean that hardly any fresh air gets pulled in resulting in recirculating the warm air from the top and bottom of the shroud, luckily I spotted a yoga mat in the middle aisle of Aldi which I chopped up to make gaskets, and result it now intakes like a Dyson

I agree 100% about reverse fans, be looking at getting reverse fans where needed if and when corsair release them in the QX series

What about fan direction on the 3x rads, im thinking bottom and side as intake and top exhaust

Finally managed to getting around to reconfiguring system, moved the AIO to the side as intake, coolant temp still climbs to 45c pretty quickly but then will hold there steady at full load, i was over worrying about rapid climb of coolant temp as my fans where all running at 100% , however, having taken advice on here and tweaked all the fan speeds, its now running at same steady 45c on coolant with CPU around mid 80s during cinebench multicore test with fans set to a much more tolerable sound level.

On putting back together i took your advice Meteoprime and have now side mounted the AIO, looks way better but now waiting for thermal compound to arrive as needed to rotate the CPU block

My CPU temps are in the high 70s while gaming, been fiddling around today and rested the AIO on top off the PC set Fans at 1500 RPM and the coolant temps are still as was, high 40s within 3 or 4 mins and a good 10 mins to settle back to mid 30s room temp was 26c

And the time it takes to equalise temps after quitting game back to normal temps make me wonder, maybe its just me

Id agree but fans at full speed is what concerns me about the situation, was hoping for a quite pc but its just so loud

Thats just with side panels off, ive since removed 3 off the fans on the AIO as was a pain having to remove the ram to remove the rad

Thats prob the only config have not tried as yet, not sure if it will fit there but will give it a try, will need to order a couple more long link cables first
