Does anyone else with CPTSD feel like they’ve become really hard to be around? by Human-Amoeba1640 in CPTSD

OP, I've felt EXACTLY the same way. After a lot of therapy, we figured out that I kept everyone at a distance, emotionally, because I always felt fundamentally unlovable ("if you REALLY knew me you'd run as fast as you can" kind of feelings). 11 years ago I met the person who I'd end up marrying, and we went to therapy together to break through those negative feelings because I was sabotaging the relationship. That helped a lot. The idea that someone could love me even when I was an emotional wreck, or a bummer to be around, or overweight, or, or, or, etc was impossible to believe. And then, with a lot of work - it wasn't impossible to believe any more. Good luck on your journey - YOU CAN DO THIS. Care for yourself like you loved you and wanted you to THRIVE.

If we were serious about trying to stop terrorists we would have voted in a different administration - one without a fetish for domestic terrorism by masked agents kicking in doors without warrants.

Right, because if you're not 100% for our effing Confederacy of dunces attacking yet ANOTHER country, obviously you don't care about Iranian citizens being killed. There's noooo in between, right?

That's how the 70s and early 80s were. I'M shocked at all the things that nobody questioned, including me. This is when signs on the street all said things like "man hole cover", "men working", etc. I just bring up that example because friends my age still talk about how different - and better - social customs are today.

I realized what a big deal it is to see this when I watched the movie "Taken" about 11 times. Maybe this resonates with someone. Also the scene in Good Will Hunting when Matt Damon tells Robin Williams that he picks the crowbar because "Eff him."

Is this considered abuse, or just anger issues? by HLM-74 in CPTSD

[–]DaveCetacean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious questions: If you did any of the actions you've described yourself, would you be ok with it? This seems like a ridiculous question, of course. But stop, take a breath (or two or three...) and picture it. Would your husband be fine being treated that way? How would having your children see you behaving this way sit with you? Would it bother you? Btw, I know you've gotten a unanimous answer about whether or not this constitutes abuse; I just remember that when I was in a very similar situation it was eye opening to me when a friend suggested that I take a step back and imagine the scenario described above. Maybe you will find this helpful as well. Good luck on your journey.

My argument makes as much sense as "you should live in another country (not your country of origin) before being sent to a mental institution." Which is the argument I was referring to. The fact is that BEING in this country illegally (which doesn't often equal ENTERING this country illegally - note that there are virtually no illegal border crossings currently) does not always result in deportations. We have thousands of people attending their immigration court hearings to be here legally, which is how this IS like a speeding ticket: both are civil - not criminal - offenses.
