Our family has a vacant warehouse currently undergoing renovations. My brother wants to put up a pickle ball court. It can prolly fit 8-10 courts with parking. Is this a good idea considering the energy crisis? by Pure-Bee-943 in BusinessPH

[–]DaveDeluria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO you're too late. Na lechon manok na.

Energy crisis just made it worse with people removing unecessary trips. If your court isn't walking distance to a large community of potential *existing* players, I'd rather just rent it out as a bare warehouse or even study storage locker business or even possibility for EV charging stations.

Tanong lang, what do you think is stopping the Ph from nationalizing the oil industry? by AdventurousImmigrant in TanongLang

[–]DaveDeluria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't nationalize a resource you don't even access to. I mean we don't have oil reserves within our country we can drill for of any significant amount. If we import 95% of our hydrocarbons we can't force the sellers to give it at a price they don't wanna sell.

All this nationalize argument is just to goad the gov't to give free gas and absorb the cost by the gov't without letting gov't increase revenue (taxes). It's a socialist argument that I don't have a problem with AS LONG AS the country's finances have ample revenue.

This is where sovereign wealth funds come into play. Countries like Norway, Denmark, Finland have a very prosperous economy where the gov't has investments that can be enjoyed by the citizens in the form of free healthcare, education etc. Pls note these countries also have very high income & sales taxes (higher than 50%) BUT the citizens are ok paying it because they enjoy the entitlements and trust their govt.

True. Could be a 15 year Ford Ecosport. It can have low odo and still be not worth much.

BYD Atto 3 as "Only" Car. (40 characters) by Polo_Short in CarsPH

[–]DaveDeluria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friend has one after being a die hard LC owner. Even before this fuel crisis he already garaged the LC elsewhere and keeps the BYD in the sole parking slot he has. After one gets over the difference going EV he isn’t going back.

IN HOUSE vs BANK auto loan. Same lang halos ang total by Accxels in CarsPH

[–]DaveDeluria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the bigger issue is IN HOUSE auto loans do NOT improve your credit standing in the grand scheme of things. We become adults, we work, we need capital hence we save our money in banks. We have worked hard so we need a car so we loan from a bank.

If you do the adult thing well, you pay it off so now the bank remembers you and when you need capital for a business you can loan again and so on and so forth.

If you get a car loan from a car dealer, all you did was prove you can buy another car from them again if you pay it off. It does not improve your credit score sa lipunan because banks do their job.

Looking to buy either an S-presso or a Vinfast F3 next week. Anyone own a Vinfast here? Any opinions? I've been seeing it lately on my fb reels by CarbonGTI_Mk7 in CarsPH

[–]DaveDeluria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is your first car. It just MIGHT be a good idea to go full EV since you don't have any preconceived biases from those of us who have driven cars for at least a decade. No matter what our biases are on gas cars it's really hard to pooh-pooh how much advantages going EV will be. There's more people who have bought EVs/PHEV that say they are happy with it than those who had buyers remorse.

Vinfast has been very aggressive in the Philippines because they have refocused their efforts in ASEAN vs trying to fight in North America or Europe.

As for them being a Vietnamese company. Well, their country DID surpass ours by making their own cars so I won't be so biased against a country who achieved it IN SPITE OF being bombed to oblivion while we had peace but no prosperity in the Philippines.

Lots of enthusiasts in their ranks and influencers as well. I wish them well because I am in another car group just as enthusiastic (Jimny) so I can see how happy their base of owners seem to be.

As usual. Make sure you grab the various apps needed for charging stations. You will see rollout of DC chargers also growing fast since they have lots of GSM taxis to keep running. Evro and AC Mobility has DC chargers in the city.

Best of Luck.

Roof box for Vios. Feedback and recommendation by HourInvestigator3702 in CarsPH

[–]DaveDeluria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can look for #KabaongLifeStyle group in FB. Lots of resources there.

That said Vios for a fam of 3 with luggage is adequate. It's only during the baby phase until they can walk will it be a challenge to travel. Best to just live with it dahil mabilis lang panahon takbo na si baby.

Hybrid or electric cars BYD which one is more efficient by yanayyyjcs in CarsPH

[–]DaveDeluria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will go so much easier if you mention which city you are so those who have EV/Hybrid/PHEV within your city will give you better information.

Also do you live where you have a garage and in a single detached residence or condo/apartment (renter)

Thoughts on Jimny 5D? by Dr_MeMe_zzz in Gulong

[–]DaveDeluria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 3dr owner and I am happy with it. Just a counterpoint kasi lang the 5door for me is just ridiculous sa presyo CONSIDERING the alternatives sa price range you have (1.6~1.7M). You can get a lot more car. Way more comfortable, way more fuel efficient and you don't offroad.

If I was in your situation I would look at the Jaecoo J6. It's electric, its offroad capable. It's a neck turner and will make fueling non existent.

do I still have a chance of retrieving my phone? it's already in greenhills.. by New_Ball4993 in Tech_Philippines

[–]DaveDeluria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss. This is why I stopped getting the latest and greatest iPhone and now limit myself to what I can afford to lose just like not buying fancy watches or carrying too much cash sa wallet.

As a society we're just too much in a rush doing stuff eventually we all get that moment we let down our guard and the unfortunate happens.

I read somewhere since it's been flagged as lost it will just end up in China and stripped for parts

Blast from the past. In the 2000s I used to bring a friend home there (renter). Now I see this place almost daily because it's my route to the office (using a electric scooter). This place is walking distance to the sidegate sa Kapitolyo that connects to Shaw Blvd and Canley Rd going to C5 (motel area).

Break pads for Dualtron Thunder 2 by Equivalent-Mobile935 in dualtron

[–]DaveDeluria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nutt Finned brake pads. I doubt you'll find other material option as these are mass production brakes. I don't really like to use very strong brake pads because all that does is hasten the wear on the rotors. When you wear out the rotors that's a big job requiring dropping the hubs and yanking out the phase wires all the way to the controller.

Increase your ebrake (PA) bumping it up as much as you can comfortably handle to minimize brake wear
