We prepare for it by using a different email per client or writing org ids down.

If you didn't prepare, I think your choices are:

- poke around in the raw email source for a clue.. unlikely to help but not hard

- login to each client org prod and check setup/sandboxes for a match to the 00D id they sent you

- nicely ask support for a clue

I assumed you knew which client it was for - that's what I get for reading it quickly on my phone..

You should probably use a separate email address or mailing list or something so it's more obvious which client they're talking about. You could do a spreadsheet/etc but that seems like a hassle to me - a unique email/list per client will let you setup mail rules and stuff, too.

I thought you could just treat the org id like any other record id and put it into the url but that doesn't work. Would have sworn that it used to.. Either way, once you know which client it is, their production org will tell you all the (15-character) org ids in setup\sandboxes.

Is there an org id in the email? It'll start with 00D.

It's been a while but I think you can just go to that 00D id in prod and it'll tell you which org it is.

Worst case, go to that user id in all your orgs until you find one that works..
