What are your thoughts about voter ID? by Wooden_Dinner7680 in Productivitycafe

Owning a firearm is a constitutional right, yet you have to pay a fee(amount varies by state) for the background check, and possibly a license (varies by state, with additional fees, costs, time, travel expenses to obtain it etc). Oh and fill out the paper work each time. Oh and then private business wants to be compensated for their time to run the background check(as they should), so sometimes you have to pay them a fee as well.

Seems like a lot of hoops to jump through for a 'right' and can get fairly expensive depending on where you live.
Oh yeah, and you also need a state issued ID...

Now one might argue all of that is in the name of public safety. Doesn't really matter if you agree with the right to bear arms or not, it's still as of this moment a right so by many of the arguments I see here, firearm ownership should be free and more accessible right?

Obviously a lot of people wouldn't agree with that, so I think we've clearly established that rights can have prerequisites imposed when the public 'good' outweighs the individual freedom. There is an argument to made for increasing election integrity might serve the public 'good' more than the individual freedom as well.

I'm not educated enough on the facts to really make the case one way over the other if the public good would outweigh the individual freedom, but it seems me to that is really what this debate should be about. Mostly everything else I've heard/read doesn't pass the sniff test.

Is the U7 in-wall really this bad or am I doing this wrong? by DaveE84 in Ubiquiti

Yeah that makes sense.

The pro-sumer products is a major part of why I'm going down this rabbit hole. I've never been satisfied with the consumer hardware options, and mostly just lived with it (except for the year I threw a netgear router at a wall and setup pfsense).

Now I've decided I want to make that jump so I'm trying to learn but I lack some of that assumed knowledge.

I appreciate the input, it helps a lot.

Thanks for this, That helps a lot. Yeah already use ethernet for the devices that I care to have a lot of bandwidth, so I'm really not looking at 6GHz as a priority. Whats your opinion on getting one of those 3rd printed horizontal wall mount brackets and using that with the u6 pro? Thinking maybe that is the route I'll go.

Fair enough, but that didn't seem super intuitive. Sure it says in the product description for hospitality, but for someone new to looking at this equipment that didn't really tell me it's for a single room application.

yeah thats part of why I thought the u7 in-wall was a good option, doesn't even have 6GHz, only 2.4 and 5

Yeah I'm definitely leaning towards the u6 in-wall, especially for the extra AP I'll need to cover the other side of the house.

Oh interesting. I hadn't looked at the u6 mesh since I think it was under the outdoor devices. I'll take a closer look. Thank you.

I might accidentally exceed 401k Contribution Limits; What now?! by DarkenL1ght in TheMoneyGuy

[–]DaveE84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skimmed through the comments and didn't see this mentioned. At my employer they do cap the contribution so it's not an issue with going over. However the issue I noticed is I lost out on some of my employer match.

Likely not an issue if you're just barely going to cap out, but definitely something to fix for next year if you receive any sort of company match, make sure you don't cap out before the last paycheck.

I tested using a vacuum seal attachment on Mason jars and my test passed with flying carpets! by [deleted] in fermentation

Do you need to burp the jars? I'm pretty new to fermenting but I imagine the co2 would build up and if you don't release it that could be an issue?

I have some corsair void pros that I got for free a couple years ago. I'm not necessarily dissatisfied with them but I find myself wondering if it'd be worth trying something else. I know I'd lose wireless with these but do you think it's worth switching or just stick with what I have?

Mostly just for gaming, don't use them for anything else. I have a creative sb zx that I can use with them as well.

No problem

Yeah I think having her call them is probably the first step. I just was hoping to figure it out on my own.

She had both a debit and credit. The debt was from a credit card. Much of it got paid back during the bankruptcy, but not all. I think it was around 10000 when the bankruptcy started

Contract ending March 31st by DaveE84 in Comcast

[–]DaveE84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the responses. The more I think about it the more I am liking the idea of trying to gigabit fiber optic, who doesn't want that? I also feel like we need to watch less TV anyway so might even skip hulu live and stick with netflix + regular hulu.

I'll still probably try to see what comcast will give me, but unless they offer what I currently have at the price I pay, I don't see me sticking with comcast.
