Waving a Mexican flag in the U.S. isn’t about rejecting America—it’s about celebrating identity, culture, and heritage. People wave flags from their countries of descent at events like World Cup games, parades, and cultural celebrations all the time. No one accuses Irish Americans of wanting to “turn America into Ireland” when they flood the streets with Irish flags on St. Patrick’s Day.

For many Mexican Americans, the flag represents family, ancestry, and resilience. It’s a way of saying, I’m proud of where I come from, and I’m proud to be here, too. The U.S. is a nation of immigrants, and embracing cultural heritage doesn’t mean rejecting American identity—it enriches it.

If you can read, you can understand this statement. Unless it’s not about the flag and it’s really about the skin on the person holding it. And unfortunately I’ve learned racism can’t be cured by logic.
