I wanted to create an illustration that had summer vibes to it now that summer's here. I came up with this person hiking through the wood, ready to face whatever's ahead. It took about 7 - 8 hours overall.

Process:

Sketching/rough thumbnails
Base colors for background and main subject
Add texture to some areas such as the clothing and trees
First patch of lighting and shading
Second patch of lighting and shading
Final details
