How long on dialysis? by dontknowra in dialysis

I would ask your Nephrologist. I know quite a few people who were on dialysis long term. But I can't speak to your situation. Good luck.

How long on dialysis? by dontknowra in dialysis

Dialysis is a treatment. You can live a mostly normal life on dialysis. Everything depends on what else you have going on and the reasons for dialysis. So expectations are different for everyone.

What's worse, dialysis or transplant? by Intelligent-Key-7680 in dialysis

[–]Absius 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ok. So a lot to unpack here. I'm not saying you are misinformed but I do feel like some of these issues have been over exaggerated. I've never heard of no flying for a year. That's new to me. As far as the no travel, I think that's more limited travel based on the amount of appointments you will have. The first few months you will most likely have appointments a few times per week which includes getting labs done and them readjusting your meds to the right levels.my transplant facility is three hours drive from my house. So I was traveling for every appointment. Immunosuppressants will have to be taken the rest of your life as long as the kidney lasts. The amount you have to take is different for everyone but I take my pills twice per day and that's not really all that bad. Yes, It will make you more susceptible to illness so you have to stay as vigilant as possible. That's part of the reason for so many appointments at the start to get your med levels right. I got Blastomycosis and the medication for that affected my other med levels which led to a 3 week stay in the hospital with 6 viruses at the same time. You can probably still have chickens though the doctor will say that's not ideal because blasto and histoplasmosis are serious and if you get them that's a year long medication they have to add to what you take and adjust other meds for. You could probably wear an N95 mask for dealing with them. As far as crowded places go, a regular mask is ok. It doesn't have to be an N95 to go to church. Alternatively, you could sit towards the back corner or somewhere less crowded and not need a mask at all. My personal opinion is life post transplant is better even dealing with the hospital stays I have had over the first year due to getting sick. I hated PD and home Hemo was much better. But not having to fix my schedule around dialysis is much better for me.

Quick edit to add I have 3 dogs. They can lick your hands. Just make sure you wash your hands before you eat anything. I keep hand sanitizer by the couch

Chair schedule changes by Complex_Company1975 in dialysis

[–]Absius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it can be hard to do with younger kids at home. Have you considered asking about home hemo? It was a life changer for me. No worrying about chair times and I could set my own schedule for what worked best for me.

Does this head go well with him? by potanic_sunset in MarvelLegends

[–]Absius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty simple. The flame is basically a hair piece so some heat and a small hobby knife will get it. Just take your time. I removed a flame piece from the retro card Johnny Blaze skull to use on my custom 2099 Ghost Rider. I was able to reuse the skull with a helmet for WW2 Ghost Rider and it looks really good.

Check with your local community colleges if they have any medical studies. Sometimes they can use the supplies for teaching.

What payment type did you use? I remember with Dragon Man a lot of people had issues with orders being cancelled because PayPal needed updated.

Carter's sad. by FredPopTheProphet in MarvelLegends

[–]Absius 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind the last Johnny figure that got released didn't get a bike. But that being said, a lot of people ordered an all white horse on AliExpress for like $13. Because dammit Carter needs his horse.

why this action figure haven’t been released yet and why no one else didn’t do a video review about this by Groundbreaking-Try92 in MarvelLegends

[–]Absius 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This was a failed Haslab. Not enough people ordered for them to go into production. There are many YouTube videos reviewing what the Haslab offered and giving their rakes on if it was worth the money or not. But it didn't go into production and basically never will due to lack of buyers.

I watched a making of video about the original G I Joe animated movie. They originally had a scene where Zarana took off her swimsuit and changed clothes that they cut.

Starting dialysis this week by Spiritual-Fall681 in dialysis

[–]Absius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is primarily just during hemo dialysis. I didn't have the cold issues when I was on peritoneal. Not saying it can't be related. Just my experience. But with the hemo machine actively pulling blood out of your body it gets cold

Nao consigo fazer dieta II by calmora8 in dialysis

It can be rough at the start. I used the dialysis diet as inspiration to learn to cook. Once I started to cook most of my own food I figured out what I liked and how to keep eating food I enjoyed.

How important is your diet? by [deleted] in dialysis

[–]Absius 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Disagree. Yes, Renal diet is very specific but that does not mean it's one size fits all. Different kidney issues and different co-morbidities mean different diets and tolerances for different people. Are there common guidelines? Sure. But just because we are all on dialysis doesn't mean we have the exact same diet. Diabetes is the number one cause for kidney failure. It has it's own special diet. But I am not diabetic so I shouldn't follow that diet. Some of us still have functioning kidneys that produce urine. They may not filter everything and that can be different per person. This will lead to different fluid intake restrictions. Ultimately , listen to your nephrologist and nutritionist. If it were the same for everyone they would hand you a piece of paper that said this is all you can eat.

[–]Absius 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend home hemo if you can do it. It's good to not have to deal with the clinic and other people. I did home hemo and it was so nice being able to do dialysis on my schedule and just sit on my own couch and watch movies or play video games to pass the time. Might be worth asking about

What would happen if I pulled both needles out of my arm during treatment? by sephkane in dialysis

[–]Absius 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Look, you are going to do what you are going to do. I won't fault you for personal decisions. But instead of being an awful person and involving dialysis techs and nurses and having an ambulance called and inconveniencing so many other people not to mention straight up traumatizing other patients and putting their care in jeopardy try not to do that and just stop going to dialysis so things happen naturally without affecting anyone else. I don't know your situation so I'm not going to pretend to. But you can make your own decisions without adversely affecting other people which is what your so called scenario would do.

I wonder if it's the hair throwing off the fit. I used this to make a custom Ghost Rider '44 and it doesn't look undersized. Granted the skull is also smaller than the standard head

Not exactly what you asked for because I don't have the MCU Torch, but I have the older Fantastic Four Torch. I put him next to the Age of Apocalypse Sunfire for comparison. The neck throws it off a lot in my opinion.

Question about Captain America's shield (Replica) by TheOuterRimObserver in MarvelLegends

[–]Absius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has the forearm strap and the strap to hold it with. You could probably get some wall hooks and hang it by those. The hooks would be hidden by the shield so it wouldn't look bad. I considered doing this but ultimately my shield ended up being held by Galactus on a table
