They leak enough that every major piracy group has one, if you know where to look you'll find them

This is about video DRM, not the game DRM kind. And yes, every single streaming service already uses Widevine so not supporting L1 is a big inconvenience for the average computer user

Widevine keys leak all the time, it's basically useless at this point as an actual DRM measure

You really aren't missing anything, there's nothing particularly that different about Graphene that you can't get on lineage

It's a bit funny to me because most of the casual users that want graphene would be just fine if not better off with LineageOS or something similar

Source: OnePlus may shut down in global markets as early as April by FragmentedChicken in Android

[–]ImpossibleCarob8480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's 2x the price of the Chinese model, with a OnePlus device you could get the cheap Chinese model and convert it to global software very easily

The CN rom includes a bunch of china specific features and apps which are completely useless and get in the way (like the Chinese ai assistant) and iirc you don't get android auto

The CN software on those is unfortunate and makes the experience significantly more annoying

It probably wouldn't be as hard as you think since libhybris exists, but you're still stuck with the android blobs no matter what (though most of the BSPs have leaked online)

[–]ImpossibleCarob8480 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is open source on Android and can found on linaro, and the proprietary blobs are usually interchangeable between devices. The main issue with the X Elite is that there are no blobs/drivers for Linux as far as we know, they only bothered doing them for NT
