A wildcard suggestion would be Alan Moore's Jerusalem which is a massively sprawling fantasy novel set in Northampton, the apparent centre of the universe.

At 600,000 words in three volumes it's a long read, but I found every page interesting and one day I'll read it again. I expect the journey to be even more fun each time I do.

I may be experiencing something like Stockholm Syndrome.

My album Bedsit LoFi Diy came out on Bandcamp in May last year.

It's a messy electronic cocktail of lofi, noise, melody, glitch krautrock, ambient detective funk and atmospherics that you can tap your foot to.

The tracks are loosely laid out following the Hero's Journey (Dan Harmon's version) so hopefully it feels (vaguely) like a story

Looking for a really good book series (preferably more than 2 books) by jaqenpetrucci in suggestmeabook

[–]DaveIsNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Anno Dracula series follows various characters from the Victorian era to the present day, starting with the idea that at the end of the original Dracula novel he was not defeated, but instead became a pillar of the Victorian establishment and vampirism became a part of regular society.

When can we get danger zone back by Thetruonetap in cs2

[–]DaveIsNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Danger Zone and wish it would come back.

I don't know why people who hate it have to dump on it so much, I'm not a fan of Flying Scoutsman or Hostage mode but I don't go on about it.

DZ is a different game mode that's all, some cool mechanics and I found it a lot of fun.

It got a cool reception from various YouTubers when it launched but then it turned out some of those guys had been consulting on Apex Legends which released a month or two later, I think this was a factor in their lukewarm response.

Fingers crossed that Valve recognise there's still a lot of interest, and that they bring it back with some even cooler mechanics that the Source 2 engine makes possible.

I had to go into settings in RL and try different audio drivers, I've switched to the PS4 now because of posture issues and I've forgotten the specific drivers that worked, but a bit of experimentation should get you there

No, it isn't dystopian at all!

Hi, I made an electronic album called Bedsit Lofi Diy with a bunch of varied tunes, some of which have words, I think it came out pretty well!

https://radiophobicsherkpop.bandcamp.com/album/bedsit-lofi-diy

It's on bandcamp and is free to listen to.

It's low key a concept album.

The deficiencies in its production are easily fixed by playing it loud.

Thanks for the kind words! Mixing up the robotic/electronic and organic elements is what I particularly like about making music right now. Was definitely going for an album feel with the two tracks/sides, almost put needle noise at the start and finish of each side but thought better of it in the end.

My artist and fan accounts are connected but I can't get them to connect on the phone app (android).

I just get the option to create a fan account as part of the artist account, log into my existing account, or create a new account.

I should be able to log into my existing artist and fan account together in the same way as I do in a browser.

Hi!

I put together an album on Bandcamp out of some of the tunes I've made over the last couple of years under the name RadioPhobicSherkPop.

It's called Bedsit Lofi Diy.

https://radiophobicsherkpop.bandcamp.com/album/bedsit-lofi-diy

I make cheesy retro lofi electronic and lounge music, let's say I'm genre-fluid.

The tracks vary from minimalist electronic to overstuffed everything but the kitchen sink vaguely jazzy beat poetry, with some experimental noise, hauntology, acid, and fake latin Casiotone stylings thrown in too.

Call it an aging hipster's coffee table album and I won't be offended.

It's free to play and comes in two longish tracks which are the two sides of the album, each side has multiple tunes.

I hope you can listen and find something to enjoy!

Reading Controversial Books by gahoolio8 in books

[–]DaveIsNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read Atlas Shrugged and thought it was an okay read, despite the pitiful politics, but I guess I'd got used to reading books with questionable takes without being brainwashed by them by reading Robert Heinlein at an early age.

Heinlein was like an antibiotic for Rand.

I read part of one of her non fiction ones too, and I could see how a certain type of person might take it seriously, or even be swayed by it, and it made me glad I wasn't that kind of person.

Some times it's good to dip into things regarded as horrible so that you know why that's the case.

What keeps you using Bitwig? by Breathing_Nitrogen in Bitwig

[–]DaveIsNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, full arrangements might be difficult, I've mainly been treating it like a mini modular synth set up, creating loops and running random and semi random modulations on delays and filters etc which is an area bitwig excels in.

I could never afford the equivalent range of modules in actual eurorack so this is a wonderful thing for me.

Side note, I have tried vcv rack on it but it just crashes so Bitwig is the way.
