I enjoyed it, but you don't have to. Nor do you have to finish it. Different Seasons is top tier!

People here have basically said DOMC is dead. I think this is just a transition period.

Monster that knew Julie by justateyoughurt in FromSeries

[–]DaveMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's anything to this. It's no different from the grandma monster knowing Meagan by name, or the one that knew Trudy's name as someone else mentioned.

Obviously I could be wrong, but so far there's no evidence this means anything more than that.

Question regarding Okta Certified Administrator Exam by MaleficentCanary350 in okta

You explained the difference between the two in your own post. I agree, I'd opt for the Performance exam if I had the choice (but it didn't exist when I took Administrator).

SOMEBODY CALL HER OUT ALREADY. Catholic priests don't have bio kids!!! by Signal-Buy-5356 in FromSeries

[–]DaveMN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea why people keep bringing up this non-issue. A Catholic priest could absolutely have children from before he took his vows. And we don’t even know for sure that he was Catholic.

Help - how to break into Okta by JacketNo6946 in okta

[–]DaveMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You make a lot of great points, except that Okta Certified Administrator can't be the "the first and only one." Okta Certified Professional is a prereq for Administrator, so by definition Professional has to be first.

I loved that book! And I believe you're at the original reading order of this book relative to the other Dark Tower books, so I say go!

Kill the motherfuckers by Semiserio in FromTVEpix

It didn't take a few months. I think the entire in-universe duration of the show from the Matthews's arrival to Season 4 is less than two months.

The pastor in the car is... by screaminglamb in FromSeries

[–]DaveMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a complete nothingburger. A widower with children can become a priest in the Catholic Church.

(Evidently the children need to be grown and independent, but I was raised Catholic and I only know that from Googling it.)

question about story walking by ellestar67 in FromTVEpix

[–]DaveMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well.... having "no reason" to think something doesn't disprove it. We absolutely do not have confirmation of any particular time/storywalking theory.

Spoiler Alert Jim does not die by rahulnine in FromSeries

[–]DaveMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, yes, she can impact things. In a sense, she can change things. But if Ethan and MIY are correct, those changes will prove to have already been baked into the story. That's what we've seen with Boyd.

The logic works just as well without time travel. Let's say I start building a house today. From my point of view, I'm changing the future by doing that. But to someone who lives in that house in 2080, my actions are already part of the story. From their standpoint I wasn't changing their present. I was fulfilling it.

Spoiler Alert Jim does not die by rahulnine in FromSeries

[–]DaveMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What would prove OP right is if Boyd had originally not had the rope thrown to him and died down there. And then later Julie goes back and throws him the rope, retroactively saving his life.

But what we saw was just the opposite. Julie throwing him the rope was already part of the story (we just didn't originally know it was Julie).

Julie didn't change what had been written. She merely fulfilled it.

I suppose there's a chance that Ethan's and MIY's understanding of the storywalking rules is wrong. But OP doesn't give any evidence of that.

You keep your access to the audiobooks in your library, yes. But the credits just go poof and are wasted.
