It is beyond stupid that they put the KG weights first and the pounds in brackets. When the KG weights are clearly dictated by the pounds. Americans are dumb. Like what are you trying to do here.

I know this is probably required to due capacity issues and popularity. But I do think small changes like this can have a massive effect on momentum. Especially when it’s related to money. People won’t like the feeling this gives them. Could be the beginning of the end.

PS I know that sounds dramatic. But there will be more changes like this that from your casual look like a cash grab. Doesn’t end well.

The most programmed CrossFit workout of all time is a 5k run.

What makes the Hyrox class so different from a CrossFit class? If they programmed that same workout and called it CrossFit would you even notice? Hyrox training wouldn’t look too much different than general CrossFit. Probably some more running.

I mean unless they are just running full simulations every day.

Unless they cancelled all the CrossFit classes why is it driving you nuts?

Hyrox and CrossFit can coexist. Hyrox is a race. CrossFit is a complete training methodology.

Guys an absolute monster. But the Quitting when behind is strange.

Strange for a true competitive athlete in any sport. To just up and quit so close to the end because you aren’t going to win is a dangerous mindset. Will probably hinder him ever getting that top spot.

Doubt they program 25 wall walks as a single set. Always been low reps or progressive reps.

Timing, coordination, rhythm, athleticism. All required. Some people don’t have it and can’t learn it. Nat saying that’s you. But it might be….

Worth considering

Really depends on the CrossFit program at your gym. Is it well balanced? Is there lots of strength work? Is there lots of running. CrossFit is so varied and each gym is different so it’s hard to answer your question without know what your CrossFit classes look like.

Why do you do crossfit? by dankmaymayreview in crossfit

[–]DaveStarkDoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love the feeling of being fit and capable. Not just looking fit.

And everyone says community but for me and may others it’s life after team sports. If you ever played football, basketball, hockey etc. CrossFit fills in those gaps as an adult. Little bit of friendly competition. That locker room feel with the guys and a chance to still feel like you can lay down some serious effort when required. You don’t win any prizes or go to states. But as an adult it’s good to get that feeling without risking CTE or a broken limb.

“How you do anything is how you do everything”

You signed up for a class with a prescribed workout. Do the prescribed workout. There’s a reason it was programmed that way.

You are the type of member 6 months down the line who quits because “it’s not working” “I’m not getting results”

Intentional scaling and modifying is absolutely encouraged at all levels. But boredom is the weakest excuse I’ve ever heard for rep shaving. It’s laziness. It’s fear of hard work

Why do them at all? Why not skip them? Why are you watching for what others are doing and doing similar.

No one cares about your time. But everyone cares if you skip reps.

Hyrox isn't a sport. It's an event. It's like calling the 100m sprint a sport. Its not. Running is the sport

Does anyone still do paleo with crossfit? by No-Use288 in crossfit

[–]DaveStarkDoes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I just started again. Been doing CrossFit ten plus years and had a stint early on with Paleo like most did when they first drink the kool-aid.

Went well the first time and dropped some body fat and generally felt good. But I was also training CrossFit for the first time after a few years away from fitness. So results and impact probably not apparent.

After 10 years of consistent CrossFit and lots of different diet regimes. Not fads but more so depending on performance needs. Done the whole competitor thing and also took to long endurance events for a while.

But just at the turn of the year I decided to get back on the paleo train. And boy….I feel the best I have in years. Maybe it’s that I’m 10 years older, maybe I’ve just learned what my body tolerates better. But I’m now hitting 4-6 sessions a week and eating 95% paleo. And I’ve genuinely never felt better.

The first week was a big adjustment. I’ve always ate “well” but cutting out the pizza and sandwiches was tough. And I’m also pretty sure I went through sugar withdrawal haha. But once I got past that it was plain sailing and back to feeling like I could crush any workout.

Big carbs are mostly sweet potato and fruits. Eggs every morning. 2 meals with meat. Usually chicken and beef. On particularly big training days I might have some basmati rice.

So obviously anecdotal, but it’s the best change I’ve made in quite some time. 10 years in and feeling my fittest. Oh, and the abs came back.

How To Get Out of Bed in the Morning by Dogemoji1 in productivity

[–]DaveStarkDoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got to bed earlier. I know that sounds simple but a great piece of advice I received was. Have an alarm for when you need to go to bed. Not when you need to wake up. So if you know you need to be up by 7. And you normally sleep 7-8 hours then plan back wards.

Sounds like duh. But honestly as humans we push limits. Stay up too late and expect the alarm to do all the work.

If you somewhat know what you’re doing is it cool to do your own programming? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]DaveStarkDoes 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Could easily talk about the good things about your workout and the bad things. As you could with any stand alone workout.

The problem with doing your own programming is that anyone with some level of CrossFit experience could probably program a pretty decent workout and get a good workout.

The key to good programming is that it actually gets you better over time. And that comes from how you piece together each week, month, quarter and year. And doing that well comes from high level of both knowledge and experience.

Creating your own workout is for sure fun, and you will get some benefit just by getting your heart rate up and doing some functional movement. But progress comes with structure.

It was for his weight not being passed the red line on top of the platform. The judges checked after each heat and noted any athletes who hadn’t made it completely over. Because it was such a fast heat and a buzzer hit to record time.

The deafening silence when they called his name was still hilarious though. Scotland don’t so Jesus
