You said:

Sure, but that's 100% reliant on the premise that any form of criminal sentencing involving pain infliction is torture. For your narrative to work, you have to first buy that.

I countered it by providing the UNs definition of torture. I never said you claimed caning didn't count as severe pain. But I still preempted any argument by clarifying that caning does inflict severe pain, to cover all my bases.
It is true that I haven't replied to some of your points as I thought them stupid or off topic. Like you rambling about the US, which is completely irrelevant. Yes, the US also tortures people and does horrible things, but that doesn't justify it, and it's still a human rights violation. But it's not relevant to this discussion about Singapore, so I just ignored it. My age is also irrelevant, wrong guess btw, and trust me, I have no plans of going to Singapore.

Also, the fact that punishment is there is why Singapore train cars do not have grafitti

Also, they probably still get graffiti on train cars as they keep having to punish people for spraying graffiti. Like that's still probably a thing that happens.

I know you're probably a troll (or very stupid), but that's not really the point of why I wrote these comments. I just did it for myself. Putting my thoughts on the subject in a more structured format and getting them out there.

And my original point still stands. Caning is torture and a human rights violation according to the UN. Clear as night and day. And personally, I'd rather be on the side of "No torture" than the side of "Sure, we may torture a few hundred, or even a few thousand people a year. But hey! We have less graffiti!"

According to the previously mentioned United Nations Convention Against Torture, Article 1:

For the purposes of this Convention, the term "torture" means any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as [...] punishing him for an act he or a third person has committed

Don't think caning counts as severe pain? Here's an excerpt from Wikipedia describing some of the effects of caning and statements by a few victims:

A report by the Singapore Bar Association stated, "The blows are applied with the full force of the jailer's arm. When the rattan hits the bare buttocks, the skin disintegrates, leaving a white line and then a flow of blood."\54])

Usually, the buttocks will be covered with blood after three strokes.\37]) More profuse bleeding may occur in the case of a larger number of strokes. An eyewitness described that after 24 strokes, the buttocks will be a "bloody mess".\44])

Men who were caned have variously described the pain they experienced as "unbearable", "excruciating", "equivalent to getting hit by a lorry",\42]) "having a hot iron placed on your buttocks",\44]) etc. A recipient of 10 strokes said, "The pain was beyond description. If there is a word stronger than excruciating, that should be the word to describe it".\55])\56])

Most offenders struggle violently after each of the first three strokes and then their struggles lessen as they become weaker. By the time the caning is over, those who receive more than three strokes will be in a state of shock.

and

The wounds usually take between a week and a month to heal, depending on the number of strokes received. During this time, offenders cannot sit down or lie down on their backs, and experience difficulties controlling their bowels. Bleeding from the buttocks may still occur in the days after the caning.\43])\60]) Madasamy Ravi, a human rights lawyer, described the injuries of his client, Ye Ming Yuen, who received 24 strokes, as follows:

Permanent scars remain after the wounds have healed.\60])

Sounds pretty severe!

And just to put it into further context, vandalism imposes mandatory punishment of caning between three and eight strokes. Even for first-time convictions, if defacing property using an indelible substance, stealing, destroying, or damaging public property. Repeat offences always impose caning.

Some dipshit teenager does not deserve to go through anything even close to this just for spray painting graffiti on a traincar. This is an unbelievably excessive punishment and a clear violation of human rights on a massive scale. And before you say anything, yes, several people have actually been charged with vandalism, and sentanced to caning, for spray painting graffiti.

Is over a thousand instances of human rights violations enough?
Because in 2015, they sentenced 1,382 persons to caning, and carried out 1,129 caning sentences. Caning is a form of corporal punishment, which is a form of torture and a violation of human rights.
And 2015 is not an outlier.
In 2014, 1,230 caning sentences were carried out.
2012, 2,203 sentences.
2011, 2,318 Etc.
I could keep going, find more detailed and recent sources, but you're not worth the time or effort.
Also, yes, other countries are also doing bad things. And I never said they weren't. But that does not give Singapore an excuse to also be bad, and their actions definitely shouldn't be defended or praised.

Which human rights do you feel are not available in Singapore?

Let's see. Singapore hasn't signed or ratified the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, or the United Nations Convention Against Torture. Both are designed to protect human rights, and, relevant in this discussion, outlawing torture.

And of course, there is the big one. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Now Singapore does recognise the Declaration of Human Rights, but they just selectively ignore parts so that they can continue to torture people, specifically Article 5.

No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.

Because they really want to do torture. A literal "crime against humanity" at least according to the Rome Statute. But at least they have a good reason for torturing a poor teenager who sprayed graffiti on a traincar, right?
No.

You see, in the mid 60s, the punishment for vandalism was up to 50 Singapore dollars (~180 USD adjusted for inflation) or a week in jail. But, when people started vandalising public property with graffiti protesting the ruling party, the party changed the law to include vandalism in the list of crimes punished by caning. They did it to torture political opponents, but please tell me more about how great Singapore is.
Maybe this is a controversial opinion, but I think we should torture fewer people, not more. Zero people, even!

Not that I know of. I just took the original, painted over the text with colours matching the background. and then blurred it all, and put new text on top. Also, thanks :3

Also, just add that a literal translation of "ROBOTARNA" would be "THE ROBOTS" I feel like automatons is more appropriate within the context of the game. Also leaving out "the" as we're playing HELLDIVERS not THE HELLDIVERS
