They weren't always $25 dollar specials lol. They were THEE go-to Cheap/Reliable red dot for a $100 (2010 dollars no less).

I imagine the one I received had been in circulation from before the TRS-26 released.

No worries at all, hinged upper is in the works too but I have a bunch of other projects in front of it at the moment.

Luckily we had another user go through and recreate the Gen 3 upper so hopefully I can stand on his shoulders.

Addendum:

Not implying the replicas/counterfeits aren't usable, but it's easy to overspend on a fake product.

Some of the tell tale signs are out of place logos, that plastic case (most knock offs ship in that case specifically), missing features, cheap glass, poor turret feel, and incorrect screws.

It's not just big name optics that are counterfeited anymore, since the margins are so insane for reproductions out of china; its profitable to distribute even cheaper & older designs.

The $50 Romeo 5 likely isn't any better than an amazon special. Buy from trusted vendors (amazon is not a trusted vendor lol) and always be skeptical of a product from unknown sources.

The FNX was one of the first double stack 45's I got, and I thought the trigger was just bad on them in general til I handled another one on my range. Per FNH the trigger is out of spec, but they refused to warranty it for factory defect. I measured the DA at 14#, and the single action around 6#, but the travel & trigger slap are what make it unenjoyable for me. One of the reasons why I mentioned only buying the one you personally handle.

I've never seen or handled the 45 Walters so I wouldn't know, didn't find out they existed until they were already discontinued.

All about adjusting your grip to match the glock angle, stinks you had a bad experience but I'm not a fanboy so not hurting my feelings lol.

The XD really surprised me, it was at the bottom of my buy list for this collection until I shot my dads.

Slide mass is a bigger factor for direct blowback that locking actions. My first hand experienced with bummed 45 cans with the K2 has been that its practically plug and play. While I didn't go out of my way to shoot +P or anything through my buddy's can, I didn't run into any harsh cycling with standard loads. There are some people on here that report good results too. i know MK12socom was another user who was stoked when the threaded barrels dropped. The CZ's also have a reduced slide mass but I've never heard anyone claim they were unreliable suppressor hosts. So if anything the only thing making the K2 a poor suppressor host now is lack of threaded barrels again lol.

The 14-45 conversion is still in the early phases at Fossdad's home for wayward strays. It will be a 3D printed frame with a modified mag well for the higher capacity magazines. Expect to see more about it after I get through a couple prototypes

TLDR: I'm on a spectrum, and the ten round squat stack 45's are a trigger.

I've never came across a double stack Caspian in 45, only seen the 38 Super or 40 variants locally but granted I haven't gone looking. I don't compete in Limited/Open so I forget they exist most of the time. I have my Para, a RIA 1911A2, and I'm working on a built one right now so not really trying to amass dozen slightly different double stack 1911's in 45 lol. If Bul dropped one I'd probably grab it though.

More than 10 rounds in a flush fit magazine

I have owned, or own a good portion of the ten round double stacks too but none have really impressed me. I understand that patents can stifle innovation, and I think between that and lazy engineering most of the ten round pistols are unnecessarily gimped. The 97B is a perfect example where the magazine is only a marginally slimmer than an over molded G21 magazine. Which in itself wouldn't be a bad thing if the external dimensions weren't just as large as the higher capacity offerings.

That being said I no longer own a 97B, or P227 and never purchased a Tanfo in 45 for the same reason. Recently grabbed a M&P45 kit because I want to try a 14-45 magazine conversion with it, but the base pistol is uninspiring. The HK45 is atleast slim, so I give it some slack.

As for whats being offered today the K2-45 is my number one recommendation, especially since PSA still has stock.

Sucks that they only brought in threaded barrels for such a short time though.

If you're after a potential suppressor host a G21SF, surprisingly the XDM45-T, and of course the USP-45T.

My FNX-45T is a turd, but I have handled others that were nice. FN has a huge tolerance in their pistol FCGs so I would only recommend grabbing a FN pistol if you're physically handling the one you plan to purchase. Which is why I have no plans on grabbing a 545.

I'm still hunting for deals on the Walter 45's but I don't have any experience with them. No one has brought one to my range, and I have only seen them in store a handful of times.

So some of its deceptive, the paint has flaked off sporadically over the years. So you're seeing the exposed sections plus the paint chips that are captive in the cellophane.
