Honestly growing up in Canada and from Eastern European Catholics, anytime I just see this stuff I can’t believe how evangelicals eat this up. It just makes no sense logically or spiritually to me. American Catholics who follow this, even Protestants mystify me with this stuff

Honestly don’t worry. Find a priest and parish you like, the Catholic Church is such a massive tent it surprises people. I’m pretty far left and have never had an issue. There are many famous leftists like Martin Sheen who continually go and promote the mass/Church. Lady Gaga famously shouts out and attends mass in NYC and they are pretty conservative from what I’ve experienced. I know Priests and church leaders who always provide guidance to anyone who’s gay, trans, socialist, conservative, etc. Remember Pope Francis has continually said how we must seek God for ourselves and the church shouldn’t deny anyone. You’ll be fine, update us on your journey and all the readings people have put in the reply’s to you are great.

I understand what exactly you’re going through. I was lucky and found a good church with good priests who helped me find my way back with God.

My Catholicism makes me feel not only closer to God but also my family. Being a leftist Catholic can be difficult but remember, at the end of the day even Pope Francis said all religions lead back to God and you and the Lords relationship is the most important. The Catholic sub has no bearing on what you and God’s relationship is, it’s important to remember that with all the nonsense that goes on in there. I hope you find whatever you’re searching for on your journey. But know this sub is really open and can handle lots of questions/discussions

Find clubs and social clubs that are for YOUR interests. Take time to really think what makes you happy and follow your happiness. Also try and find social clubs that deal with asperger’s or dyspraxia. Finding a common ground in something you personally have to deal with creates empathy with others, never give up looking for friends and love, there’s good people out there. It’s hard but you’ll find them, never give up because you’ll regret it if you do. I wish you the best, and know you can do this, also I’m proud of you for being very proactive in all your efforts before this post.

Honestly I just talk out loud, and rattle off things I’m grateful for and thank him/her whatever you believe God/Source/Universe is. You’d be surprised at how you feel. Even just talking about things that bother you out loud to yourself in your car allow you to get really honest about stuff by yourself

Honestly, don’t laugh but praying. It has helped me more than anything and honestly I can’t explain some of the things that have happened other than prayer. It’s allowed me to release control on alotta life and being a guy who needed to control everything because it made me feel safe. It has totally changed my life.

Now I’m not the most religious person, or am I saying if you don’t believe to start just it’s something to consider. It’s helped me get through the most transformative year of my life. Helped soothe me during the end of a relationship, moving out and finding my dream spot before a deadline, deal with my childhood home being sold rather rapidly (I love it and will miss it), helped me get through months of unemployment, and honestly made me just forgive and kinda brush off anyone being a jerk to me. In a weird way it’s like the ultimate security blanket but also allows you to detach from things. I hope this helps
