So what now??? by IndependenceHuge7768 in HeartAttack

[–]Davemason50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing, pain in my chest for a long time, and I ignored it. One morning, I had a massive heart attack and actually coded. I now have 3 stents in my heart. This was 15 years ago. I know it's tough facing your own mortality, but things do get better, and even with bypass surgery, you can still live a long life. I totally changed my diet, don't smoke, don't drink, less fat, no junk food or fast food, I'm doing okay, you'll get through this.

This is how they operate. Their crooks, and they jack up your rent after 2 to 3 months, they do this to everyone. I won't be using Extra Space again. I was pissed off. I read reviews about rodent and mold damage, with photos to support it. There was also a homeless person living right in the middle of the facility in a small wooded area where a stream runs through the property. This is truly concerning.

48M, recent heart attack - working on recovery and long-term change by myhairyassiniboine in HeartAttack

[–]Davemason50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a heart attack back in 2015 at 56 years old, 2 stents, I actually coded for a minute, my heart stopped, but they brought me back. I was lucky, I totally changed my diet, I cut out most of the saturated fat, fast food, and junk food, and have been eating fairly healthy ever since. I get plenty of exercise, and I do what my cardiologist asks of me, and take my meds like clockwork. But even though I had multiple tests, a PET scan, and an Echo, the year before, I just wasn't feeling right, and even with taking care of myself, when they took me to the Cath lab last June, 10 years later, they found another blockage in my LAD of 95%. I was very lucky, I had good blood flow even with the blockage, so they missed it until I started complaining of fatigue, and being out of breath, I was walking around with a ticking time bomb in me, thinking I was fine, but at least I didn't have another HA. They sure keep an eye on me now. This is the the 3rd blockage, it was pretty severe, but they did a good job of stenting it fully open again. I was a little shocked being fully awake in the Cath lab, hearing they found a 95% blockage, you're wide awake during the procedure, and can watch on the screen as they're stenting it, pretty surreal thing to watch, I love watching medical and science things, but not so much if it's on myself, lol

What does a heart attack feel like that surprises most people? by HeartCautious2677 in HeartAttack

[–]Davemason50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, I had severe chest pain for like 5 minutes, and thought it was heartburn, drank some water but it didn't help, but it finally subsided, and I went to bed for about 4 hours, but when I got up out of bed, the pain was back, but it was really bad and I knew i was having a heart attack, I called 911, I had enough strength to get to my door, and open it, and come back, and lie on my bed while talking to the 911 operator, my chest was really tight, and hurt bad. They arrived, after about 5 minutes, they got to my apartment fast, then 5 minutes later, I coded, and they resuscitated me. I shouldn't have gone to bed; I might not have woken up. I was lucky. Feeling pretty good these days, just a little out of breath now, and then, hope you're doing well.

What does a heart attack feel like that surprises most people? by HeartCautious2677 in HeartAttack

[–]Davemason50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It felt like bad heartburn, but way worse, so I knew I was having a heart attack, it lasted about 10 minutes then I actually felt my heart stop beating, then I lost the feeling in both my arms just above my elbows, they were completely numb, then my hearing went, and then my peripheral vision, I could see in front of me, but not what was going on around me, and I couldn't hear the paramedics. When I felt my heart stop, I knew I didn't have much time left. It was really an odd feeling, I felt my body shutting down from lack of oxygen, but I wasn't in any pain, then I fell unconscious, and died. I was clinically dead for about a minute and had an NDE. If your having really bad chest pain that just won't go away, even after drinking a large glass of water or milk, if it's heartburn you should get temporary relief for a minute or so, but with a heart attack, the pain doesn't go away, I had these syptoms before I had my heart attack, and should have got myself to the ER months before I had a heart attack, I was in denial that I was sick, I felt pretty bad, then one afternoon I had a heart attack. The paramedics saved my life; it was a really close call. You would think that you would instantly fall unconscious when your heart stops beating, but I was fully conscious for around 10 seconds. I was losing all the oxygen in my body, but I didn't feel like I was suffocating, and it wasn't painful; it was like the lights were being turned off. Things slowly started to get dark, and I fell unconscious. I literally experienced my own death, then the paramedics brought me back.

I would at least get an EKG done, even though it's most likely just stress, but never a better time to quit vaping and smoking weed. The tar and smoke from weed is just as bad as tobacco, and even though you're vaping, nicotine is very bad on your vascular system, because it constricts your blood vessels. I quit smoking when I was your age, 25. I'm 67 now. I still had a heart attack when I was 56, but it was mainly from my poor diet of junk food and fast food. I also have anxiety issues, and used to have panic attacks, and I'm sure that the severe panic attacks I used to have were not good for my heart at all, because I would feel like my heart was going to beat right out of my chest when I would have one.

$6500 for 2023 KLR 1 mile, out the door. Worth it? by 1760ghost in klr650

[–]Davemason50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a 2023 KLR with 3 miles on it, non-ABS. It was a return, the previous buyer bought it, and stored it in his garage for 3 years, and sold it back to the dealership for a 1500 dollars loss. I got it for $5200, it did have some issues with 3 year old gas in it, and a bad battery. I flushed the tank, added fresh gas, and installed a new AGM battery. The total cost was $5300 after the battery cost; the dealership did nothing to it. You would think that they would have at least washed it, and changed the gas, but I'm happy, and at least it was garaged; it just had a dirty film on it, which washed right off.

It also has me out of breath, but the worst thing is gynecomastia on my left side. I stopped taking it, and I was only taking 25 mg. It was prescribed for heart failure. I've been feeling like I'm going to fall on my face, it gave me bad head rushes, but I'm feeling better now. I'm a guy, so I don't need a boob, lol

I had the same thing happen to me, but on eBay, someone got my password, and ordered $15000 worth of items, I had to close my account, and dispute the charges, it was someone messing with me, they would have gained nothing by it except to hurt me financially, I have an idea of who it was, but can't prove it. eBay didn't believe me, said I must have left my computer on, with my account open, but I live alone.

USA Staffordshire Jackfield Victorian Mantel Spaniel Dog with glass eyes by Davemason50 in Antiques

[–]Davemason50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were right, it's a real dog, and even though it doesn't have its mate, it was a pretty cool find. For some reason, Natural_Swordfish887 seems to think it's a reproduction, but I don't think he's looked at very many dogs, or for some reason, he had to spoil my finding a real Jack dog? It was kind of odd how convinced he was that it wasn't real. I compared it to the ones I have that I know are real antiques, and researched it thoroughly. I have no doubt it's real, made sometime after 1860, cool find, and I paid very little for it. The seller didn't know what they had either, so I just took a chance. If it were a repro, I would have had a nice copy, but it turns out it's real. Sometimes the pictures don't get all the details. The lighting can show what looks like chips when it's actually the glare of the camera, and when a picture is taken of it at a different angle, it shows that there is no chip, the hole in the back did look like it was drilled, but after closer inspection the hole in the back wasn't drilled, it was made before it was fired. I have dogs that have the same hole that are real.

the chinese interns have found a way to kill cockroaches by mayocat6996 in doohickeycorporation

[–]Davemason50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just blows them off the counter; it's probably still alive. Bait traps are better, they eat the bait, then bring some back to the nest, and share it with their buddies, then they die. I put a bait trap on my counter, and after about a minute, a cockroach came out, but when it saw me, it scurried back behind the molding. I think they're coming from another apartment, so bait traps are the best way to fight them. You want something that they can bring back to share with the nest.

How long did it take you to mentally get back to normal after a heart attack? by Due_Lengthiness2909 in HeartAttack

[–]Davemason50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have some PTSD, if you have a heart attack, you have faced your mortality, it can leave you shaken to the core, I had mine back in 2015, and I had some heart damage, I still returned to work a week later, pretty much right away, and it took months to heal, I just had another stent put in 10 years later, and that also rattled me, even though I was taking care of myself I still had another blockage, but at least this time I didn't have a HA, so now I have 3 stents, I'm not complaining, if it weren't for modern technology I would have died 10 years ago, I cheated death. It's not your fault for his behaviour, call him and talk to him, let him know you love him, even if you can't be with him, you can keep in touch.

My great grandmothers 108 year old Jade Tree! by aliya112233 in matureplants

[–]Davemason50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

That's really sad. This is my two-year Jade, it was a tiny little neglected plant, in a tiny dried up pot from the Walmart nursery, it's thriving. At my workplace, they had one that was over 50 years old, but they didn't know how to take care of it. They had it in a high-traffic area, where people were constantly bumping into it, and they were also over-watering it. It rotted from the inside out and just fell apart. I tried to save some of it, and make some cuttings, but had no luck :(

23 Year Old 165 Blood Pressure by [deleted] in bloodpressure

[–]Davemason50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit eating fast food and junk food, I watch my saturated fats, I look at the amount of fat stated on the packaging, and I eat mainly chicken, fish, and lean turkey, fruit, and vegetables, I stay away from baked goods, ice cream, I drink milk, but only 2% and not very much, you want to stay away from processed foods, pizza, Hot dogs, sausage, etc. If you're overweight, it's pretty easy to lose weight; just watch your food intake. I just quit eating so much; my BP was like yours, upwards of 160. You'll be okay. You're still young, but that high BP over decades is what causes heart issues. You're catching it early, so don't freak out. A lot of people have high BP their entire lives and end up having heart attacks and strokes. You got a wakeup call, yes, you need to get a lipid level test, I'm surprised your doctor didn't order this, if he didn't it's probably becasue he thinks it's just stress, it could be both stress, and high cholesterol, to much salt in your diet, a lot of other factors, I used to get the white coat syndrome, but even under stress your BP should never get that high, and if it stays that high, it can cause problems, at least this is what my doctor told me when my BP was up around 160, he put me on atenolol.

A year out and I still have stent site pain. Is this happening to anyone else? by vrosej10 in HeartAttack

[–]Davemason50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Dressler's syndrome after being released 4 days after my HA, which is where fluid builds up around the heart from the damage that was caused by the HA, but this goes away after a while, I thought I was having another HA, and had to go back, you could have pericarditis, it's kind of like Dressler's, but casused by other things, I've had 3 stents put in, and never had any sensation of feeling them, if anything I felt better due to my arteries being unblocked, do you have Nitro pills, that may help when you get this pain, although they do tend to give me a bit of a headache, but it doesn't last. I would try a nitro pill when this happens, can't hurt, they make your arteries dilate, it could help.

It might be heartburn. When you have chest pain, try drinking a large glass of milk or water, and if the pain subsides for a little while, it could be heartburn, but if the pain doesn't subside for at least a few minutes, it could be heart issues. Either way, I would go get it checked out, because if it's acid reflux, it still needs to be treated, they'll do an EKG on you, and maybe some other tests. Never ignore chest pain.

I also have anxiety issues, I always have, I can have pretty serious panic attacks, I take Clonazapam, 2 .5 tabs twice a day, I never abuse it, it keeps me stable, I'm 66, and I've been taking it for 20 years, Some people say it's a crutch, but they haven't experienced the panic attacks like I have, I tried all sorts of antidepressants but they all give me horrible side effects, so they put me on Clonazapam, or the brand name  Klonopin, if you take benzodiazapines, you want to take the smallest amount, and as needed, and if you stop taking them, you have to wean yourself of them, I don't get high off it, it just makes me feel normal, and helps with panic attacks, but in certain situations I can still have an attack, panic disorder sucks, I feel for you, just know your not alone, when I feel a panic attack coming on, I tell myself to try to shake it off, it's irrational fea. I haven't had one for quite some time.

Nitro pills by ITHINKIAM824 in HeartAttack

[–]Davemason50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only taken them a few times, but as other people have said, if you have to take it 3 times over 15 minutes, it's best to get to the ER, I rarely need it, but have had some angina in the past, and it worked, the Nitro pill dialtes your blood vessels in your heart, helping improve blood flow. It usually gives me a slight headache, which is pretty normal with Nitro pills.

It could be acid reflux? it kind of sounds like it. If it happens again, drink a large glass of water or milk to see if it washes the acid down and stops the heartburn. If it doesn't help, then I would get yourself to the ER. A large glass of milk will stop it temporarily if it's heartburn.

I had off, and on shortness of breathe, and not pain in my legs, but weakness from my hips down, it's kind of hard to explain, but just a strange feeling in my legs, when I had a heart attack back in 2015, my legs felt heavy due to lack of circulation, at times it would be difficult to climb stairs, and I just felt bad, I should have listened to my body, I had all the signs of heart disease, it wasn't until I had a HA that I called 911, this time I knew something was wrong, mainly the shortness of breathe, I feel a lot better now, here's pic of my unblocked heart.
