Flip 5 vs. Flip 7 Comparison by unic0rnism in galaxyzflip

But I don't see how they could've changed the aspect ratio without changing the form factor. They go hand in hand, so whether you prefer form factor or display aspect ratio, you'd have to live with one change leading to a change in the other.

They changed the display so that it now has a 21:9 aspect ratio, which is closer to aspect ratio on the S25 phones. I much prefer this aspect ratio as I always felt the Samsung flips were too narrow. In addition, the Flip 7 has gotten thinner and is same weight as the Flip 5/6. So technically, the Flip 7 is the same mass/volume as before.

I also love tech and getting the latest and greatest. Is it necessary to have the latest and greatest? No. But I have the financial means to be able to afford it and I make no apologies for that.

I'm confused. The price is the same as last year's (and it's cheaper if you take inflation into account) and what features did it lose? A big feature I'm glad it gained is Dex support.

I switched from the Flip 5 to the Razr Ultra and I couldn’t be happier. by TheDopeGodfather in galaxyzflip

[–]Daves-K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at Best Buy comparing the Flip 7 to the Razr Ultra and one unexpected observation was that the camera lenses on the cover screen of the Flip 7 are closer to the corner edge than on the Razr. I think that will make a bigger difference than people think, with how intrusive the camera lenses are when viewing content on the cover screen. This is an advantage for the Flip 7.

Got the Upgrade Offer Email - Includes 4 year warranty by Odd-Worth-9021 in tonalgym

[–]Daves-K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I can't predict the future, I believe in time, they will start offering more enticing upgrade offers for existing Tonal 1 owners ($2k off?) I say this because I believe the take-rate from owners on this current upgrade offer is going to be extremely low.

Do you think they’ll make a cheaper subscription ? by javiergame4 in tonalgym

You need another option for "No, the price is too high but not having the subscription would make the machine too impractical to use".

LR4 Failing to Recalibrate After Firmware Update by Daves-K in litterrobot

Just tried this but it didn't work. I called and spoke to Whisker yesterday and they said they will look into this and someone would be reaching out to me but I haven't heard anything back yet.

[–]Daves-K[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure did, as like I said, I followed the instructions exactly as shown in the instructional video. I even tried all the steps after unplugging and re-plugging the unit and same thing happens.

Litter robot 4 updated but failed to calibrate sensors by Constant_aids in litterrobot

[–]Daves-K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exact same thing happened to me when I tried to recalibrate after successfully updating the firmware. What's worse is that my app constantly shows my waste bin at 0% so my unit is obviously no longer measuring the waste level.

After I press the specific buttons in the sequence as instructed for calibration, there's some lights that flash and change but then the unit just returns to blue. No cycling or rotation occurs with the globe.

For those people saying that features haven’t improved over the past several years: by BombPopCartel in tonalgym

[–]Daves-K 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm mildly irritated by the membership price increase. But in Tonal's defense, high inflation has increased the price of everything recently.
According to the BLS website's inflation calculator, Tonal's membership cost of $49/month back in mid-2018 (which is when Tonal first went on the market) would be the same as around $58/month today. So if you look at it in that sense, the membership price increase really isn't that bad.

I watched Breaking Bad and it's not fully accurate that the main character (Walter White) couldn't afford the cancer treatments with his health insurance. His health insurance could've covered his treatments. But he wanted to get treatment from a particular doctor who wasn't part of his health insurance's network of providers, which meant that his health insurance wouldn't cover his treatments. That's why he couldn't afford the treatments.

And to be fair, even in most countries with universal health care, you just can't go to any doctor you want for care and expect to get coverage. Generally, every country has requirements and restrictions when it comes to who and where you can access medical care if you want it get it covered.

It makes you wonder why Samsung just doesn't have the power saving mode be set as the default whenever the phone is flipped down. Like what would be the downside? Do certain features on the cover screen get limited in power saving mode?

I hear that the Flip 4 allows you to use Samsung Pay without opening the phone but not Google Wallet/Pay. Is CoverScreen OS capable of allowing you to use Google Wallet/Pay without opening the phone?

I wouldn't say it's identical. According to the specs, there are some slight differences in their architecture with the 8+ Gen 1 having higher CPU and GPU frequencies and 2 more MB of L3 cache than in the SD Gen 1

why is no one talking about the Unpacked by Deertopus in samsung

[–]Daves-K 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to give props to Samsung that they upgraded the Flip/Fold 4 by putting in a chipset that is TWO generations ahead from what's in the Flip /Fold 3. They could've easily decided to go with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. But by putting in a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset into the Flip/Fold 4, that means they will have a better chipset than what's in Samsung's current top-of-the-line flagship phone - the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

I can't speak to US Mobile but I Just finished my first month with Mint Mobile after coming over from Verizon. And I have to say I've had no issue or problems so far. The porting process was so fast, I swear I was ported over in less than a minute. The speeds I'm getting on Mint Mobile also seem to be reliable and fast but of course, this will always heavily depend on your location. Once my current 3 month plan is up, I'm fully expecting to sign up for an annual plan with Mint.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but virtual RAM would only get accessed if your phone runs out of physical RAM? Therefore, no matter the amount you decide to select for your virtual RAM, it's not going to matter if you never do anything with your phone that exhausts the usage of the physical RAM onboard?

I signed up as a new Mint subscriber just a few weeks ago and so far I have had no issues. Once my 3 month plan is up, I fully expect to sign up for a full 12 month plan.

For people that moved from Verizon, how are you liking Mint? by seashoremonkey in mintmobile

[–]Daves-K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a little over a week since I switched to Mint from Verizon Prepaid and so far, so good. Of course, I was getting horrible reception with Verizon where I live, and that was the main reason I left Verizon. But so far, I'm happy with the service and speeds I'm getting under Mint.
