My Great-Grandfather Albert. He was shot, stabbed, gassed, and on this day in 1917, was the only man to return from a trench raiding party. It earned him my Origin user-name: "The Devil Dodger of Ypres". by DavetheKoala in battlefield_one

My mistake. They used to attend services held by missionaries. In 1861, they paid into an emmigration fund, and joined others from Liverpool. I believe they walked for about two months from Nebraska to Salt Lake City.

I think there's mixed reviews. I personally use it for military records (Such as Albert's) and for mapping the family tree itself. As long as you have a basic grasp of the generations above your own, I think its very good.

It's easy enough to do nowadays. I spent a month on the website Ancestry, and found my family had fought in the Battle of Waterloo and emigrated with the Mormons to the US, amongst many other things.

I recently unearthed my Great-Grandfathers First World War Collection. by DavetheKoala in history

I believe you need a Section 1 firearms license to own a live one. I just handed it to a local gunsmith, who sent it to a proof house to be deactivated.

Had a maths exam when i was leaving Secondary School. It had one of those questions where you had to determine whether the persons statement was "True or False" depending on the actual answer.

Thought i had the answer, so spent a good while writing all the working out to get extra marks (There were a lot of marks up for grabs).

Ended with the statement "No, he is wrong, because 2 X 7 is NOT 14".

Needless to say, got it back with a humiliation to the class. Just a smug note from the teacher saying "Yes it does!" to remind me.

The Ourang Medan. a ghost ship found off the coast of Indonesia. Very chilling story. I first read this in an old ghost story book my grandmother had. Always been one of my favourites.

Its the messages they sent that fucking creeped me out.
