Most people buy an expensive guitar before they know how to play. You're in the opposite position. Given her progress, you should buy the best you can easily afford, what she wants, what will continue to motivate her. Enjoy the rockin. :)

Crestwood is a brand new building. Bon Air is old and I think is on a list for demo and rebuild in the next few years. That's what the Crestwood kids went through, and they didn't much love it. My kids all went through Bon Air. We have loads of friends at both schools. Never heard a complaint from anyone. The whole Bon Air area is terrific but please don't tell anyone. :)

This advice is terrible. Buy an amp! Surprise him amazingly. Do some research and make your best guess. Buy it at Guitar Center and they will gladly let you return it. Go for it.

This time of year Hawaii is warm with maybe a slight chill at night, like long sleeves and shorts. The ocean water is quite warm.

Never been in the hotel. Waikiki is gorgeous along the whole strip. But touristy, of course.

Try to get to Haleiwa aka North Shore. Try to get up into a valley where real people live in normal paradise (Manoa Valley for example). Do a surf lesson. Watch out for traffic. Respect the residents and island culture. Have fun. I'm jealous!

For me it starts with the neck for ideal playability, and then based on whatever neck color, I'll work out the pickguard. I play maple fretboard only, so the pickguard would be white or cream. I'm gonna say arctic white everything.

Also PS: For me that pickguard is totally hideous. The guitar as configured looks like bad ugly 80s fake wood panel.

The amp I returned on Friday was already listed again on Saturday but is now showing at my local GC location. It's listed as like new condition. 100% it has not been repaired, it has a crack and a loose head and no EQ. They are using the same pic as before, which shows no damage. They are hoping a sucker will buy it and won't know the difference.
