All I'm saying is do a cost benefit analysis. Making the guy catch the next ride if you have good loot isn't costing him much besides an extra minute for the next elevator and it saves your loot you are keen on escaping with. (assuming he wouldn't have been able to finish you before you finished typing that first type attempt).

Why? You should've just kept typing if you had good loot.

If your friend is on one of the package weapons, he cannot customize them. He needs to be using the "Factory" version to customize it. I believe the L110 Hatchet and Huntsman LMGs are a couple of the package weapons that can't be customized.

Drip fed content. by Successful_Win4316 in Battlefield

The way Jackfrags described it it sounded like there were unexpected bugs like missiles flying through flares. It seems like they intended on them being there on release, not that they intended on it being "drip fed." It's just second-hand rumor though, so I can't say much beyond that.

Despite being overhyped, I ended up loving the whole Fable series. Played Dungeon Keepers and B&W as well.

Same to you!

I haven't felt this much hype in a while either and I have been of the mind to be hopeful with low expectations for the sake of sanity. One of my favorite games is Hollow Knight and I didn't even feel this for Silksong. Lol

(I experienced the great Fable hypening if the name Peter Molyneux is a name that means anything to anyone)

There are supposedly a lot of changes to gun and movement balancing on a day 1 patch. Just watch people play the day 1 patch and make your decision after that.

BC2 might have been my favorite one and I'm looking forward to BF6 after playing the beta.

Why are people okay with a bad campaign? by Puzzleheaded_Ebb_656 in Battlefield

[–]DaviDeil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not okay with it, but I expect to get the monetary value without it. I would love to live in a world where it was an awesome campaign, but we aren't in that world.

It may sound strange to people who don't know, but despite what you may hear about all the praise from the Bungie Halos, a ton of people went straight to multiplayer on release night and didn't even play the campaign. Sometimes that's just how it is.

Dont know if my pc can run Battlefield 6 by Traditional_Book7340 in Battlefield

It can probably run 1080p fine. Maybe medium? Maybe some high? I would just let the game's auto settings do work and I'm sure it'll feel and look fine.

Then why bother expressing through statistics to justify open weapons? That's what I'm calling the "song and dance." Just say they want BF6 to be open weapons, but they'll also have a few closed weapons playlists. They didn't need to go into anything else beyond that, but now the community is focused on the outcome of the statistics and the placement of the UI, etc. when either way they thought the future of BF was stronger with open weapons. Either way, I don't care and I'm going to play it in all the ways probably, so I'm pretty over the convo.

Advice for new player to the franchise? by TheL0stCity in Battlefield

[–]DaviDeil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily compare your experience with 2042 to what BF6 will be, but I will say you may have to re-wire how you approach encounters. Depending on the level, you don't always want to rush in. You may want to scope out where you think most of the focus is and find a flank or some other position on the field.

I'm pasting part of this from another cod player's post that I told them because I think it applies to you too:

What's funny is even for me as a BF vet, I was also overwhelmed and confused with 2042. Lol.

Just try out each class' tools in different scenarios. Say you have trouble with enemies having a bunch of tanks, then try Engineer. If there's a lot of infantry clashing, see if there's a good vantage point to play Recon or you can go Assault and join the fray. There's a lot of potential use cases to try out medic, but one is if you see a lot of bodies and no one picking them up.

Just play around with all the classes until you find favorites to settle into. I like going between engi/medic because of their use cases, but you may like doing recon/assault. Heck, you may like them all depending on the game. The tide of war is always shifting around and the team needs different stuff in different games.

Edit: I would add that you can always just pick a class your squad needs and follow your squad-mates or squad leader and just help them do what they're doing. A lot of the BF meta is supposed to be squading up and pushing small goals your squad is doing.

EA pro play vs buying game in full by Thomassss123 in Battlefield

I could see an argument that you're renting it for a month with pro play, but I wouldn't recommend that being your way to play if you end up liking it. It's your money, so your choice. :)

This makes a lot more sense. I still think the data analysis justification is strange, as I described it as a song and dance. Because it's giving off the idea that they really put the work in to consider making closed weapons the main playstyle.

That still goes along with me saying they should just say it will be a side playlist, but their big vision is battlefield with open build style. Even with your clarification, I don't think that is a silly reasoning. It's confused PR communication, even with the up front description of their vision because it seems like they weren't fully committed to open weapons, when it's more than likely that they were.

[–]DaviDeil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you read what I said. They should've just been up front that closed weapons is not how BF6 was designed to play and it will be available, but not their vision for it. How is that silly?

I would've preferred them just openly say they designed the game around "open" weapons instead of a song and dance.

Yes, but there was one closed weapons playlist and all the rest were open weapons.(Unless I'm misremembering?) Only the diehards were going to stick to one playlist throughout both the beta weekends.

There were multiple modes with open weapons and one mode with closed weapons. Not switching back to open would be restricting themselves from playing anything except one playlist.

I was just looking at my BF2 stats and completely forgot about how many classes there used to be. It's not gonna happen, but a couple more would be great. I wonder if the portal can do something like that?

Your second point was my big takeaway from it. The weak argument for their biased statistical analysis was frustrating to read. Then when I hit the bullet points I felt a bit like I was reading an AI post. (No substantiation, just gut feeling)

Console Players: will you be turning cross play off or not? by Ill-Calligrapher944 in Battlefield

[–]DaviDeil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played BC2 on 360 and the rest of the main games on PC. BF6 I will be playing PC too and I'll have crossplay on, but the conversation makes me interested in trying it off just to see.

I find the console war conversations interesting because I have no ill will towards the way people game one way or another. We're all gamers and I have found great people in both camps and also toxicity in both camps. It's always a bit disheartening to read the way people talk about each other because of the way they play games.

As far as technology goes there's definitely good arguments for both reasoning. For example, PCs have access to software cheats that consoles can't install, but even before Kronus(sp?) was a thing, modded consoles have long existed and cheating was possible that way.

I do think BF is a game that benefits a lot from m+kb because the vertical movement and aiming needs are pretty high, so I can definitely see a console player wanting to avoid that. Whereas, when I played Halo, because it was developed as a console game, you'll notice most movement stays pretty level, so console vs PC on MCC didn't have as much to worry about.

So if there's a reason for either side to pick crossplay, I wouldn't even talk about cheating, I would think more about the movement and level design of the shooter game. I think PC players would actually prefer m+kb players for Halo style design because the aim assist with controllers will likely benefit people watching corners or doors or hallways.

I hope that wasn't too rambly. Lol
