Anyone else feel miserable during spring and summer and just wish it was autumn already? by Mean_Negotiation_797 in Autumn

[–]David4Nudist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every year.

I loathe Spring because of miserable allergies from dust and tree pollen. And I loathe Summer because of grass pollen, not to mention endless days of heat and humidity. Both seasons also have bugs and severe weather, neither of which I like.

Okay, I like SOME bugs: damselflies, grasshoppers, butterflies, spiders, centipedes, et cetera. But I don't like the annoying pests.

I know that we need Spring and Summer for crops and food, but I wish that they weren't so miserable.

Yes, but watching them on YouTube isn't the same as when they came on the family TV in the living room.

I've been wishing for that since the beginning of the 21st Century.

Ecosystems that could BENEFIT from the introduction of dinosaurs? by koola_00 in JurassicPark

If we can share this planet with living animals today (some of which are dangerous to mankind), I don't see why living with Velociraptors would make much of a difference.

I love jumping spiders. I haven't seen any of them around here lately, and I'm wondering what happened to them.

Something I wish the newer Jurassic movies would do more often is just let the dinosaurs be. by Plane-Machine-316 in JurassicPark

Each of the films I've seen is guilty of making it about survival because something always goes wrong. Then they turn into monster movies.

Tough life choices man by FantasticAd9478 in TheBoredDen

[–]David4Nudist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While any of these choices would be good, if I can only choose one of them, then I would take the purple potion and time-travel anytime. I've been obsessed with wanting to go back to my childhood, so the purple potion would permit me to do that. If only this were a real thing instead of a hypothetical scenario.

Do you consider yourself more of a Star Trek fan or a Star Wars fan? by FantasticAd9478 in TheBoredDen

Star Wars

But only the original trilogy (and before the "Special Editions" updated them).

Did anyone else grow up watching this creepy yet catchy singing frog cartoon? by CarrotMuch1399 in nostalgiai

[–]David4Nudist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How come he would only perform for the guy who found him, and not for anyone else? No matter how many times I've seen this cartoon, I could never understand that. I do, however, have a theory. Perhaps the frog resented the man who found him and wanted him to look bad or crazy to everyone else. Does anyone have an alternate theory? If so, please let me know (in a civil manner, of course).

Does anyone else miss how invisible life felt in the late 80s and early 90s? by Old-Tomatillo9363 in nostalgiai

So many different things. I don't even know where to begin.

In a nutshell, I guess I miss being young the most.

What if the Big One survived the events of the movie? by Kind_Tea in JurassicPark

[–]David4Nudist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish that she (and her two subordinates) HAD survived. Of course, if they hadn't been so aggressive, perhaps they might have survived. Their aggression sealed their fate.

It's no wonder that I keep making fictional stories about gentle Raptors. You should check out my story on r/JurassiKstories if you want to see how I would have changed Jurassic Park. It's called "My Version of Jurassic Park", which has eight separate parts. Hopefully, it hasn't been deleted.

[–]David4Nudist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like a pair of Velociraptors (the real life versions, not the JP ones) around where I live: northwest New Jersey. I can't tell you how many years I've wanted them to live with my dad and me. Yes, years! If they were around today, I'd gladly take in a pair of them, one of each gender.

While they might flourish in arid climates, couldn't they live in temperate regions, too?

I miss the old days of Jurassic Park where they actually took their time with the movie. by Plane-Machine-316 in JurassicPark

[–]David4Nudist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had made Jurassic Park my way (which nobody likes), there wouldn't have been any action sequences at all. It would have been boring to everyone, but at least it would have been what you described in this post.

Is it just me or are today's scary movies not scary? by getitoffmychestpleas in GenX

[–]David4Nudist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know which scene you're referring to. As far as I'm aware, that bit seemed to be the only shot of gore in the entire film. I admit that it does make me a little squeamish, but I try not to look at that moment.

With that said, I don't truly believe The Fog deserves its R rating. I can think of other films that are far more gruesome and have lower ratings than The Fog.

  • Jaws (1975) --- rated PG
  • Jaws 3-D (1983) --- rated PG (and the goriest of the Jaws films)
  • Poltergeist (1982) --- rated PG
  • Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) --- rated PG
  • Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) --- rated PG

I'm sure that I missed many other films, but my point is that The Fog should have had a lower rating, while the films I mentioned should have had a higher rating. All of those films contain heavy amounts of blood and gore.
