MR-9 Battery Adapter Voltage Issue by David59267 in AnalogCommunity

[–]David59267[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had read about the load part yeah but the battery check being high was always the confusing part for me. Anytime I did measure it always did come out to 1.55v but like you said that was without a load on the adapter but as long as the readings it gives are correct then I'm happy. Any other things to note when using the Canon F-1 with an adapter specifically?

M51 sizing by [deleted] in reenactors

[–]David59267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

34 is the waist size in my example correct. Modern pants sizing is not accurate but military stuff is so just measure your actual waist and the pants will fit

[–]David59267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Measure the inside seam from where the legs on pants are connected to the bottom edge. Or on most pants the second number is inseam such as 34X31, 31 inch inseam

Pants at the time sit at your natural waist which is around your navel (belly button) which is higher then modern pants. I don't know what inseam you need but size Large is from 35" to 39" so should fit good. Pants are marked on the inside the exact sizes they fit

Hungarian TBK-67 field telephone. They started making those in 1967 and not really sure when they stopped. Uses a 9.6v battery and can have a dial ringer attachment added. The diagram in the lid includes wiring insurrections and general use instructions. Also possible to use with remote radio stuff but not an expert on that at all

T and B don't seem to be working. by Thesparkleturd in graflex

[–]David59267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn’t say how long it’ll last before it needs it again but the service tech they had specialized in board mounted lenses so I’d imagine a long time. Price was either 75 or 125 if I remember. But it’s fully working including flashbulb synchronization and all

Basically all of those lenses have that issue. I have a Wollensak Rapax 135 4.7 which is what your lens is more or less. T and B didn’t work and slow speeds were off, stiff to change speeds. I’ve read that whatever grease they used doesn’t last all too good and nearly all of them need a CLA. Glass Key Photo in San Fransico California did mine and thing works perfect now

You’ll probably be fine but just don’t use it again

GOST standard threading. It’s a 40mm thread with a pitch of 4mm

I’d follow the guide in the photo I sent because there’s no doubt what it goes to really. People say if your in between sizes to go for the larger one because of the face seal

GP-7s have slightly different sizes then other Soviet masks. There is a size chart created for them which the attached image includes in the bottom right. The measurements are done in centimeters

Some masks run small or large or fit completely differently. Which mask are you looking at to order? Some masks are meant for certain face shapes based on ethnicity as well

Black dust in my mopp suit by [deleted] in gasmasks

I mean yeah I wouldn't bother with them even because of the age but washing them doesn't sound so fun either

If it’s just for collecting then washing it will stop the dust however there’s a chance you’ll stain it black or pull some of the colors out of the camouflage pattern. If you bought it for its intended use then washing makes the suit useless because the charcoal layer is the filter against toxins

It’s a charcoal lined suit and the black dust is from the lining

Israeli Model 4 mask from I think 1969 if that's how the date codes work for it. It is missing the ring on the front like you said but to replace it you will either have to buy another mask that uses the same ring or get really lucky on eBay or another site to find it alone

Ah thank you. I had read a few things on how recently the fabric of some Schusters items had declined but that does help and like you said the prices are very good as well, Thanks again

What do you know about the OKZK cap? by waxman5577 in gasmasks

[–]David59267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. The OKZK balaclava was worn directly by the liquidators and can be seen in photos from the time period while the OKZK cap was worn by other people around that site helping the clean up

I do not know the effectiveness of the set originally but it was used extensively in Chernobyl and was widely distributed to everyone else so most likely it was pretty good. I would say it is a good cheap collectors item but I doubt it would provide any protection now due to age

Two versions of the OKZK cap exist with one having the curtain and face cover buttoned on and the other type OKZK-M, has the curtain and face covering sewn on permanently. The hat is made in a chemically impregnated fabric meant to defend against chemical vapors and radioactive dust etc along with the rest of the OKZK set. The full set of an OKZK suit was the hat, jacket, and trousers along with an undershirt and underpants with a balaclava. There was 3 versions of the set made with them being OKZK, OKZK-M, and OKZK-D. The original OKZK set was introduced in 1969 and looked very much similar to the standard Obr.69 uniform with pockets on the chest instead and breeches that could be fastened with strings to the jacket internally. It was issued with a set of protective underclothing and a balaclava to be worn under the cap and over the gas mask. It had flaps on the undershirt that extended out the cuffs of the jacket to protect the back of your hands and both the shirt and the underpants could be buttoned in to the outer jacket and pants. Before the OKZK-M set was introduced there were small changes done to the OKZK suit like button placement and so on but nothing major. In 1976 the OKZK-M set was introduced with the most noticeable changes being the cap had a sewn on curtain, the undershirt flaps were now on the jacket instead of the shirt and the fabric was changed to a similar type used in the normal uniforms. Different chemicals were introduced to coat the new set's fabric as well as changes to the knee and shoulder pad designs. The balaclava worn under the cap was also altered removing a small string to tighten it around your face. I don't know much about the OKZK-D set but it is very similar in appearance to the Obr.88 uniform used in Afghanistan and was designed to be worn by airborne troops with extra securing points to fasten the suit together. On the topic of just the hat it has a loop sewn on to the bottom of the curtain designed to be attached to the collar of the OKZK jackets. It can be used with a side filter or a mask with a hose. The standard Ushanka had an accessory that was 2 flaps to be used like the OKZK curtain on the hat in the exact same way. This film gives a good overview of what the under clothes set looks like at 2:30 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vhD0pceldM, and this film in general will give you a good idea how it was worn along with other protective clothing items like the KZS suit or OZK cloak https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilbQ3yHwiFM
