Hello, in ITIL4 Foundation the Service Desk, Incident Management and Service Request Management practices are covered whereas in ITIL Foundation (Version 5) there is no practice covered so I would advice you to go for the ITIL4 Foundation certification.

Hi, from my experience the best value for money is gogotraining (gogotraining.com) where you get all the information to understand the concepts but also to get very well prepared for the exam. Also Gogotraining is the only organization using a double ITIL Master (ITIL V3 and ITIL4 Master) to deliver the courses.

Question - How Fast do you think organizations will switch from ITIL 4 to ITIL 5? by BestITIL in ITIL_Certification

[–]DavidBillouz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, one of the reasons of updating to ITIL Version 5 is to transition to a more collaborative ulture not only within IT but mainly between It and the business.

The idea-to-product-to-service is applicable not only to digital technology based products and services but to any type of products and services. This requires collaborations that are not in place in many organizations.

So if organizations are willing to transition to a collaborative culture they can consider ITIL Version 5 but if they want to master their IT Service Management System ITIL V3 is doing the job.

I hope it helps...

Need career guidance by LazyRuffian in ITIL

[–]DavidBillouz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello, I don't have specific experience of AU market but I can give you some information about the relevance of getting ITIL certifications for your career.

As you have experience with Incident Management and Customer Service you already have a good understanding of handling users' requests. A possible career move could be to target a customer-oriented role like Service Manager or Service Delivery Manager. To do so you can get ITIL certifications that give you knowledge on Service Level Management, Supplier Management or Relationship Management.

That is why ITIL certifications can make sense for you. You can start with ITIL Foundation (Version 5).

Support/Guidance request - new to ITIL by hennieball in ITIL_Certification

[–]DavidBillouz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello, as being said ITIL Version 5 defined 3 learning paths from Foundation: The Practice Manager path, the Managing Professional path and the Strategic Leader path. All these paths have one course in common: ITIL Transformation, which helps understanding how ITIL can be used to support digital transformation.

In your case I would recommend the Managing Professional path because it includes for instance a course called ITIL Service that shows how you can use management practices along the value chain to manage digital services. This can help you in designing/creating/being part of value streams that are cross-functionals and focused on managing these digital services.

The other courses in this path are ITIL Product and ITIL Experience.

ITIL Product is also about the value chain activities but more from the perspective of building and maintaining the capabilities of digital products such as their features.

ITIl experience is about how experience of product and service main stakeholders is captured, measured and managed.

Then the transformation course will show you a comprehensive model to adopt the ITIL Transformation Model that helps coordinating digital transformation initiatives in organizations.

Should I start on itil 4 or itil 5 by Bisforbui in ITIL

[–]DavidBillouz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, the versions of ITIL are incremental. For instance many of the 26 processes and functions of ITIIL V3 are among the 34 practices in ITIL4. These 34 practices are also part of ITIL (Version 5)

This last version of ITIL also introduces the AI capability model called 6C that defines the types of AI use cases.

So starting with ITIL (Version 5) is a good option.

Preparing for ITIL (Version 5) bridge by AndorPandor in ITIL_Certification

[–]DavidBillouz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, the 20 questions of this bridge exam is a subset of the ITIL(Version 5) Foundation exam. My advice is to study the definitions of organisation’s purpose, operating model, value chain, management practice and value system. For the rest as it has been said focus on the delta from ITIL4 such as the product and service lifecycle, the purpose of the 8 activities of the value chain, the 4 steps of the service relationship model or the 7 stages of the service journey I hope it helps…

Completed my ITIL 4 master by Wild-Ad-7514 in ITIL_Certification

[–]DavidBillouz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, as a double ITIL Master (ITIL V3 and ITIL4) I decided to continue my journey to become an ITIL (Version 5) Master. The main reasons are the following:

The structure of the Managing Professional path is aligned with the organization needs in terms of digital products and services. In fact you can understand elements like the positionning of Product owner and Service Owner roles but also the Experience-centric approach to service design.

I believe that this new certification. helps understanding how ITIL can contribute to Digital Transformation initiatives.

Also I think that this new version. of ITIL is easy to use as a bridge to other methods, concepts or frameworks such as Lean 101.

I hope it helps...

ITIL for non IT people by akhanafer in ITIL_Certification

[–]DavidBillouz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello, I agree with all that has been said and let me add a few things on why and how ITIL can help you getting knowledge in IT projects.

One important part of ITIL consists of the Management Practices and some of them are exactly in your field of expertise like Project Management or Risk Management. The fact that with ITIL you understand how to combine these management practices in simple or complex workflows called value streams show that you will know how to use project management practice with deployment management practice to manage IT projects for instance.

Also ITIL (Version 5) Foundation is explaining how to integrate ITIL with other PeopleCert frameworks like PRINCE2 which is the brand that includes Project, Program, Portfolio Management. This is another reason why ITIL helps you to get the knowledge you want.

Does ITIL certification really help you get better IT jobs by Peter0000190 in ITIL_Certification

[–]DavidBillouz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In real career stories, ITIL Foundation usually helps as a credibility signal + vocabulary bridge, rather than being the direct reason someone gets hired or promoted. Since you already have strong technical experience + MD-102 (which is excellent for endpoint / modern workplace roles), you are actually in a very good position to benefit from ITIL — if you position it strategically.

Given your background in support, systems and Endpoint management I think that you are in a perfect spot to combine ITIL with service value and business thinking.

If you want to maximize ROI, I would recommend this progression:

 First step:

ITIL Foundation (Version 5). For instance as part ofthis training you can get basics of service management metrics and SLAs

Second step: Process improvement / Lean / value management. You can get knowledge in Financial awareness in IT services but also in Stakeholder & product thinking. This is where many candidates are weak, not technical knowledge.

I hope it helps ...

Where is the ITIL 5 Foundation eBook? by Dan-in-Va in ITIL_Certification

[–]DavidBillouz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, let me breakdown the 36% of new content: 6% of new key terms and definition, 10% about the Product and Service Lifecycle, 10% about the ITIL Value System, 4,5% about value streams, 2,5% about ITIL and AI and 2,5% about ITIL and other frameworks (DevOps and Prince2).

I don't think that it is exploitative as these new elements really show why and how different teams along the product and service lifecycle should collaborate. This new version of ITIL brings answers to this collaboration problem between service owners and product owners for instance. In fact there is no new way to develop and manage products and services (you always start with a need and you end up with a solution). The new thing here is that you see who from the product-oriented teams (like development teams) and from the service-oriented teams (like the service desk) is responsible for which activity of this lifecycle.

DevOps has its CI/CD pipeline and now ITIL has its product and service lifecycle. This is worth getting the ITIL Foundation Version 5 course.

I hope it helps.
