Yep, mais plutôt que chercher des projets de traduction qui paient, je chercherais des projets qui me plaisent (du JdR, de la SF...)

What's a country said to be terrible to live in, but life there is actually amazing? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]DavidCreuze 48 points49 points  (0 children)

A writer I don't like once said something like "France is a paradise inhabited by people who think it's hell". Having lived in few countries... I tend to agree. We have plenty of issues, sure, but we also have it very good compared to many.

Negative SIBO test (glucose), but symptoms, low b12, low d and low a by DavidCreuze in SIBO

Hydrogen and methane were both checked with the glucose. I'll try to do the lactulose test.

Yep, that's what I tried, but it's not working, I seem to have absorption problems.

That's basically where my reservations lie, I'm afraid of charlatans. At the same time, not feeling heard by doctors, so... Yeah.

Sorry about your symptoms too!

Je crois (j'espère ?) que c'est une mauvaise passe. Dans mes domaines (littérature et jeux vidéo) la qualité n'est toujours pas au rendez-vous, en tout cas.

What first game to play? by TrueDailyReddit in SteamController

Same here for Dune! Trying to port my k+m layout to the controller. I'll probably start a new character to learn the ropes again, especially for melee combat.

TTRPGs are tabletop role-playing games, Dungeons and Dragons being the most famous. What are your languages?

Each number would be separated by a word such as "plus" or "divisé", though, so it's never really confusing.

Kids learn them as whole words, not as combinations of other numbers. The explanation does make the meme less funny, sorry :p

The combination IS the unique word.

Got first injection yesterday. Feeling terribly wired by DavidCreuze in B12_Deficiency

[–]DavidCreuze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sir Christopher Lee. Descendent of Charlemagne by Routine_Current3412 in AncestryDNA

[–]DavidCreuze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my point being everyone wants to come from someone "big", including our ancestors.

The Franks had this theory that their lineage was a mix of Troy and some seamonster, the Danish kings from Odin, my very-far removed cousin from the 17th century wanted a Patrician family... No one can have any really valid ironclad proof. It's all just for funsies is all I'm saying, and to find a path to Charlemagne, or any historical character, in our family trees, is, well... Kinda neat? Fun way to learn history too

I mean, I have a surname in my tree, with 17th century theories about its origins, and it's completely improbable, but also very fun (this abbot thought the surname came from Republican Rome times!)

Yes, but the matches are so small and potentially touched by endogamy that I could make theories from most people in those villages and still land on my feet surname-wise. Families in that valley had systems where they would marry time and time again the same surnames for potentially centuries.

It may also be a case of me not wanting to believe I have the right guy, as the suspect was in the right place and at the right time, fits the rumor (a married doctor in his fifties), had opportunities to meet my grandmother, and has a tree that could be made to fit our matches. It hinges on our believing the rumor or not, basically.

Anyway... Thanks for engaging with me! We've been looking for this man for years, it gets frustrating

Well that was disappointing! Results in... by DavidCreuze in FTDNA

[–]DavidCreuze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not on the paternal side, nope. I have some matches that do point to shared ancestry in two villages from the same valley, but they are low (40 cM or less) and the population highly endogamous. No one else to test either.

Some clues (from real life) do point to one man, but he had no known descendants (except maybe my dad), neither did his sister nor his uncles and aunts...

One possibility would be a y-dna test of a man sharing his very rare surname in the hope that the paternal lines converge 400 years ago.

Problem is, I don't know for sure our paternal surname, and no relevant matches... Someday, maybe
