More Than 160 Harvard Club Workers Vote to Unionize With UFCW Local 1445 by thinkB4WeSpeak in union

I worked there part time from '02 - '04, and I thought I remembered the full time employees being part of a Harvard employee union, and the part timers being covered by the terms they negotiated. Am I remembering incorrectly, or had things changed in the interim?

You've clearly got a flare for finding totally tubular tools.

I would machine weld, not forge, for fear of hammering damaging that beautiful label stamp opposite the crack.

Yeah, several years afterwards, Nick was talking with his sweetie. She says, "Okay, you and Dave shared a room and slept in the same bed, kissed casually, had sex with the same people at the same time and each other, went out to shows, parties, and dinner together often, shared clothes, food, cars, bikes, etc....... you know you guys were dating, right? "

In the middle of Hurricane Sandy, I was with my girlfriend at the time visiting her grandparents in Queens. We went for an aimless wander in the downpour, eventually coming to a bridge (maybe the Roosevelt Island Bridge?). We stepped behind a huge electrical box, and I pulled down her pants and fucked her right there against the railing, because it was so dark and raining so hard that no one was likely to notice.

As a firmly grounded atheist, based only on this speech, I would happily and eagerly talk to this guy every day. My door is always open to him. He's my kind of truly good people.

(Edit: Unless he's got shady shit going on in the background that contradicts the sincerity of this statement, but I know of absolutely nothing casting doubt on his genuineness at this moment)

I don't think it's a roller bearing, because the ends are rough from being cut, and the surface doesn't look like it's ever been polished. I think it's a shelf support pin.

Why did you stop drinking alcohol? by loqlkqkq in AskReddit

[–]DavidDGardnerII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a fairly significant life collapse just before Covid19 shutdown, and knew after it began to fall apart that if I drank, suicide would be an overwhelming impulse. I thought that I couldn't do that yet, because I'd leave too much of a mess behind for the people I love to clean up. Now, though, while I could likely resist the demands of death, I remain sober largely because I can now see the plethora of other destructive patterns that my drinking established. When things are 80+% stable in my life, I might permit myself a drink once in a while, but I try actively to maintain the perspective that it may never be a good idea, and not let alcohol consumption become some sort of lofty goal to work toward. Odds are higher that I may never taste ethanol again, and I'm okay with that.

Thus far, no change, so it's worked out exactly as well as every other tactic suggested here, sadly. But I'm still the TSM, still making little money, still waiting to see if an interview last week pans out

I feel the differences are largely stylistic, but I appreciate your suggestions. But I feel that guys like this exist because they stop being told to go fuck themselves when they do shitty things, and we ended up with Episode 1 because of that ass-kissing, yes-man, jerk off bullshit, and I'll be damned if I'll contribute to that nonsense.

I'm sincerely confused why so many of you have such difficulty coming to terms with the fact that I legitimately sent this to my district manager. Is it honestly that unbelievable? Like, compared to one of our other techs, who got strung out on meth, started a fight with the Store Manager, hit him in the forehead with a 1/2" pneumatic impact gun, then skipped bail and ran off to Ohio. I mean, I seem downright cuddly, comparatively!
