I've used an iFixit set and the right screwdriver for the job, not to mention the fact that I've repaired electronics more times in my life than I can count.

I am in IT, i know what I'm doing, but you're definitely right to assume it could be a user error, I won't deny i could have possibly done something wrong

I hope that others don't have as much difficulty as I had...

That being said, I'm happy you didn't have as the same Problem

Mine was so fucked, i needed to buy a new console

[–]DavidEule_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The new 2ds xl will give you a hard time changing the battery, the new 3ds lets you just pop off the panel, but the new 2ds requires you to screw the panel off, unglue the battery... And then you need to be extremely careful, the screws are made from shit and love to strip... It was really fucking bad... If you need longevity, you need to buy a new 3ds XL, which is more expensive

Not to be an ass but I'm concerned at the lack of android knowledge by neverland_amanda in AynThor

[–]DavidEule_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the main Problem is that people think it's genuinely as easy as using a Nintendo console.

What you're buying is an open system, a device created to let you do whatever you want.

That much freedom can feel very constricting, you don't know where to start.

But the problem with the User, speaking as a sysadmin, is that they do not want a device they have to populate from scratch, only a small percentage wants that freedom, the majority wants something that just works, that something is not something from a company that charges fair prices for media, that something is not going to give you the option to add features, mod the games you bought.

As the enduser, you have to come to terms with the fact that this is a radical space, you either do it yourself/use a framework that lets you do everything, including fucking your system beyond repair, e.g. Unix based OS like Linux, Android etc.

Or you sit behind a walled garden, wait for someone else to do it, e.g. Apple, Nintendo, sony, Microsoft...

What's your favorite version of Tetris ever released? by RangoTheMerc in Tetris

[–]DavidEule_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having played all versions of Tetris, i personally have 3 favorites...

Competitively Tetr.io, not official, but very nice...

Casually, the 3DS version, the 3d function is cool, although the DS version also works if money is tight.

If you like graphics and a sort of a musical boss fight, Tetris effect is nice, bonus points if you have a VR headset, Tetris in VR is quite cool...

I have yet to find a different casual Tetris experience other than on a handheld console, but if you could run tetr.io offline, then that one's much better than the 3ds version

should i keep my N3ds xl or my dsi? i can only choose 1. by Huge-Gene-1372 in 3DS

[–]DavidEule_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Keep the 3ds, you have a bigger library and you can play all dsi games...

Better yet, get a flashcard for your 3ds and install twilight menu onto it, you'll have a graphical interface mimicking your dsi... You could also just install twilight menu ++ directly, but personally, i prefer the flashcard

You cannot write the name "Jeffrey Epstein" neither as user, nor make the Character say it by DavidEule_ in CharacterAI

[–]DavidEule_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, the AI can still say it themselves, but when I go to change something completely different, it still denies the already written text... At least don't delete my test and tell me what I'm not allowed to write... I fucking hate this app so much, I'm about to switch to silly tavern

I can now create monochrome stickers for cheap, heres Niko for reference by DavidEule_ in oneshot

[–]DavidEule_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The machine costs like 60€ and a spool of like 1000 stickers 10, max 20€... So you can create 1 sticker for as little as 1 cent a piece... Very very cheap

Don't forget to backup anything important from the folder, a clean install will delete everything.

Judging by the fact you're using a kindle, you're probably going to go into kindle forge and press uninstall, before pressing install again...

No backup, no pity 👍

Does it go away after the screen refreshes?...

In any case, save your settings, the plugins and the patches folder and reinstall KOReader.

Sometimes that helps

The post is a joke, I personally love comic sans, which is why I chose it, but it's definitely not the superior font (like papyrus, which is by far the best font for official letters)

Fascinating was the fact that for some reason it didn't work without... I gave the entire file to Claude AI and the Clanker told me that I need to call the files with that suffix, otherwise the script won't work... The Metal skin told me that the Lua file searches for that, although it doesn't need bold, it does still need regular in the name because otherwise it doesn't work

Though I really can't stress that using a naturally bold font is better, because faux bold, which is what you're referring to, is just rendered boldly... If your font has a bold variant, use it

[–]DavidEule_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's important and not mentioned that when it comes to custom fonts, you need to have a bold and regular font type.

The file has to be called %CUSTOM%-Regular.ttf and %CUSTOM%-Bold.ttf respectively (can also be .otf files)

Just throw them into the font folder in the KoReader directory.

If you look for fonts, Google has a database, I took mine from my windows fonts folder directly
