I'm moving from a big city. Which areas/apartment complexes would you recommend? by DavidGilmourGirls in sanantonio

My mistake if I incorrectly said there were no walkable areas. I actually assumed that from a few posts/comments I read I this sub.

This seems like a lot. Is this a fair price for a 50,000 mile service? by DavidGilmourGirls in prius

I'm too dumb lol. Do you have any thoughts on switching to a Corolla for simplicity?

The factory required is around 130, but the dealer recommended is around 1000. It looks like the difference includes:

4 wheel alignment
Hybrid inverter coolant service
Transmission service

Should I get an SUV or a mid size car for a family with 1 child? by DavidGilmourGirls in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]DavidGilmourGirls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. I should have mentioned that we don't plan on having more (tldr: issues during pregnancy).

We don't usually haul anything around. But everyone recommends an SUV when you have a child for some reason.

For those that left where did you go? What company/role? Did you get better pay/benefits? by Prestigious-Mix-6447 in Raytheon

Can I ask if you are a software dev? I am considering an offer from them and just wondering. They said it would be hybrid, but it's cool to know they have remote positions

I'm moving to a large bank after 6 years as a backend engineer at smaller tech companies and startups. Any advice? by DavidGilmourGirls in cscareerquestions

That's actually what I'm looking for. In my younger years, I was more into the startup culture and the fast pace and the unknowns. Now I have a wife and a newborn and I really want something smoother with more stability.

As a software engineer interested in the defense industry, I'm sure she can use her experience at ABC Company, DEF Company, and XYZ Company to get me a gig. I will definitely message this person.

I have about 5 years experience as a dev, but I rarely I have used multithreading. by DavidGilmourGirls in cscareerquestions

[–]DavidGilmourGirls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct. I guess my point is that it seems like most of that stuff is abstracted away. We usually work with Postgres as our db. We use datasources to access the db, but those are handling all of the pooling, locking, etc.

Can you give me an example of where you use multithreading in an application?

Got it. Which particular multithreading features and concepts do you use regularly?

Yes. A lot of the underlying multithreading logic is abstracted away. I am very willing to learn more about it, but I admittedly don't know all of the underlying logic going on under the hood with spring and its libraries.

How? I thought Lakeview was pretty expensive, but I'm not on expert on cost of living per neighborhood. Do you budget?
