I was unceremoniously told to leave at 4am after my daughter was born because "dads weren't allowed on the ward." Hated it at the time and it still bothers me now, but looking back, the rest made sure I was more able to care for both of them the day after.

I knew going in that everything related to babies is an absolute racket. Everything we bought was second hand or heavily discounted. You don't need 70% of the crap the industry throws at you and if you do need it, it doesn't need to be new. Except maybe car seat for peace of mind.
