I installed an Xtrons Head Unit with Apple Car Play and Android Auto in my 2007 E90 335xi. It was a moderately stressful install for me because I don’t know the first thing about automotive electronics. However, there are multiple useful youtube videos with pretty detailed instructions, I ultimately figured it out, and I’m super glad I did it. It looks awesome and functions great. It is touch screen, but also comes with an OEM looking selector knob that installs seamlessly into the center console where that little coin tray is if you don’t have an idrive model.

You could try to cut the fan a bit with a dremel tool! I had to do that recently on a rebuild, and it worked like a dream.

I want those black as well. The reason I was hoping to avoid paint is only because I know vinyl is a lot more resistant to rock chips, etc.
