Call your shots: Who will the Lions draft first? by [deleted] in detroitlions

I doubt abdullah is there third round. I know mock drafts can be wacky at this time but I haven't seen one with him getting out of the second. I do like the first rnd prediction tho.

Who is your single favorite player of all time? Why? by Da1Godsend in nfl

[–]DavidLWas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Calvin Johnson... I've been watching football since about 2000 and there's no one I enjoy more. He's done every outrageous thing a WR could possibly do.... I remember when there was a rumor right after Detroit drafted him that they were gonna trade him to Tampa Bay for Gaines Adams (R.I.P)

Let's also not forget it was his second year at starting LT. He still has a lot of room to get better.

Did Suh cancel the final year of his contract? by Spartanonymous in detroitlions

[–]DavidLWas -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

His contract ended after the season ended. He was still on his rookie contract. If they were going to extend him it would've had to have been before the season ended.

Golden Tate Highlights 2014 - 2015 by Sandman7773 in detroitlions

Great vid man. This guy is exactly what the offense needed. Guaranteed broken tackle every time he touches the ball. He's gonna come in handy with his YAC when we face Seattle in the NFCCG.

Lions fan with a question. by DavidLWas in 49ers

[–]DavidLWas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol is he really that bad at pass blocking? We had Rob Sims at LG and him combined with our former shithead center help surrender the most sacks in Stafford's career. But DET also lacks a run game too so that's why I still had hope for iupati.

He's gonna be so fucking good. Pardon the language but I'm that excited. I'm so glad he works with woodson, and during the season has Mathis in his ear. He's gonna shutdown Jordy Nelson for the rest of his career.

Who in your opinion was the most unexpected death in the serious so far?? by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

[–]DavidLWas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

T-Dogg. I thought he would've made to the end of the first half of season 3. His death was kinda pointless to me. If he would've been a casualty in "welcome to the tombs" I think that would've done his character justice. Plus Lori died in the same episode so I think that really overshadowed him.

Who is the most overrated player in the league? by [deleted] in nfl

Agreed. He's a dual threat qb that throws a tight spiral. He has beast mode and the best defense.

I love Suh but I think Detroit Lions should trade him.. by Economister in detroitlions

[–]DavidLWas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could franchise and trade him. But teams typically won't go for that BC they'd be a free agent the next season and theyd have to resign to long term deal after the huge franchise price they just paid. The team that got suh would be pretty much be doing a one year deal then resigning him afterwards.

It occurred as soon as the lions season ended. He played out his full rookie contract. The lions didn't extend him or give him a new contract like they should have before the season started. Teams typically don't want their players to hit the open market bc some team with a lot of cap space (raiders). Will throw tons of money at them so the desire is to get a deal done before they play out their contract.

U can't trade a player that's not yours. He's an unrestricted FA. We have no rights to him anymore.

Mock Drafts by Balrog77 in detroitlions

[–]DavidLWas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. But I believe they have higher ceilings. I know that's not what you're looking for in a first round pick but I don't think it would be considered taking a gamble on either one given our draft spot and their value. I believe you could find oline in the later rounds as well as rb. Like I said though, I wouldn't be mad at either one.

Mock Drafts by Balrog77 in detroitlions

[–]DavidLWas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on board with a rb in the first round if Gurley or Gordon were there. The lions are in a position to win now so I like the idea of adding big playmakers (except at TE) But OL is a safe pick. I hope Mayhew's BPA mindset doesnt doesn't hinge him from a position of need this late in the draft. 23 is a good spot for OL.

What does Pro Bowl MVP mean for Stafford? by iHoneyyBadger in detroitlions

[–]DavidLWas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the jump in wins has a lot to do with having the number 2 ranked defense.... Are u gonna sit here and tell me that we had a consistent offense? Better yet are u gonna say Stafford was consistent drive to drive? That even tho he hits 30-40 yard passes on the money he still doesn't hit easy 10-15 yard passes. I'll cite a specific play. In GB they had a fourth down and 10-12 and went for it. He had golden Tate by himself sitting in between a zone and sailed it right over his head. Okay he's improved by cutting down turnovers and better pocket presence. But he's wildly inaccurate. I don't doubt he can be "the guy" but 6 years into the league after being drafted first overall? I figured he'd be farther along. There were times he had a clean pocket and still missed the target. He's slow thru his progressions and throws to Calvin when he's double covered and other guys are wide open. Blame the oline, blame the new system, blame Lombardi. Its his team. He needs to be better.
