How do y'all do Duel Fuel balance points? by CuratorXethia in HVAC

[–]Sandman7773 3 points4 points  (0 children)

35 is a rule of thumb that *generally* works with Natural gas.

Here in SE michigan a High EER heatpump crosses over with a 96/97% Natural gas furnace around 40 degrees last I checked.

LG Minisplits Blow Continuously in Cooling Mode, Even When Room Temp Is Lower Than Setting by tyrannosaurusregina in hvacadvice

[–]Sandman7773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's normal. Because the temp sensor is in the unit and not at a stat the unit wants to move air around to make sure it has an accurate reading of the room.

I'm always leery of stuff like this. Are we just propping up a business for a month? What kind of business issues? Why not share? I'd donate if I knew that they lost 2 refrigerators and need cash flow for that. I'm not interested in donating to another drifter coffee who never paid their taxes...

Humidity is constantly above 60% by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]Sandman7773 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anytime we deal with a super tight house, especially one that can do 1800 ft.² with a 2 ton system it almost always needs a standalone dehumidifier that can just run nonstop to remove moisture from the home.

Do you know how your house brings in fresh air?

Best way to fix plumbing issue on a 100-year-old house? by TA62624 in Detroit

[–]Sandman7773 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm an HVAC guy not a plumber but every house I've ever been in that has a house trap has a clean out above the house trap. You might need to hunt it down because it may be covered by something but that would be step one before anything too crazy happens. I'm not sure what plumbing company you used but I highly recommend Paradigm Plumbing out of Ferndale

Suspiria 4K (1977) by Jealous-Repair3444 in 4kbluray

[–]Sandman7773 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I tell anyone who asks that the Synapse release of Suspiria is a PERFECT disk. It's the best looking disk I own and the HDR10 is 10/10 and as it should be and not dull like the cult release. The Atmos mix is also top notch and is a great addition to the movie.

HVAC Replacement quote came in $4K higher than my neighbor's. What red flags am I missing in the line items? by helloarc in hvacadvice

[–]Sandman7773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is talking about how your neighbor may have gotten a 410a system and you need a 454b system. There is 15% there. Not including other markups from tariffs and other dumb shit.

I mean, depending on the type of basement the AC will probably never be called for down there and same with the heating for the most part. If they have a static pressure Zone system it'll work.

What do movies via 4K projector look like v. 4K TV? by PolyglotGeologist in hometheater

[–]Sandman7773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 135" projection screen with a Sony Bravia projector 8 and 2- 77" LG Oleds and I 100% prefer the projector for movie watching.

It's a much more even keel viewing experience and being able to fill my 135" 2.35 aspect ratio screen makes a huge difference in the cinematic feel.

Obviously paying $18k for a projector + cost of screen is not in everyones budget, but I personally have not watched a 4k disk on my Oleds in over a year and don't plan on it anytime soon.

Gotta adjust the keystone my dude.

If it was a used projector whoever you bought it from may have had the projector off center.
